Space-saving Digital Mixer with Multitrack Recording

Achieve flexible I/O, great sound quality, and convenient wireless control with the Soundcraft Ui24R. This 24-channel rackmount digital mixer packs 20 Studer-designed microphone preamps and processing from Lexicon, dbx, and DigiTech. Take command of the Ui24R with up to 10 devices over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Mix from anywhere in the venue using your smart device. Place the Ui24R onstage and use it as a stagebox. Capture a full multitrack recording onto a USB drive. Or connect the Ui24R to your DAW and use it as a USB audio interface. The Soundcraft Ui24R rackmount digital mixer is a powerful asset, both onstage and in the studio.

Take control of this digital mixer with any device

Soundcraft built Wi-Fi into the portable and compact Ui24R digital mixer. You don't need a router or other fancy device — this mixer has it all. Any device that can connect via Wi-Fi and has a browser can connect to the Ui24R. That's right, no apps, no worrying about OS issues, just connect and take control. Use your phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. Soundcraft's Ui24R can connect up to 10 devices at the same time, so the band can take control of their own mixes and volumes. The Ui24R's software gives you full input and output processing on each channel. You also get control of the effects parameters, buses, Shows/Snapshots, and much more. A handy Ethernet port lets you take wired control of this digital mixer via your computer or laptop. The Soundcraft Ui24R makes connecting to and taking control of your mix easier than ever!

Powerful onboard signal processing gives you a professional sound

Soundcraft Ui24R digital mixers incorporate Lexicon effects, dbx signal processing, and DigiTech amp/stompbox modeling. Fully adjustable parameters mean you can tweak each effect to your heart's content. You get three dedicated effects buses that feature award-winning Lexicon effects including reverbs, delay, and chorus. Each channel has dbx compression, de-essing, and noise gating built-in and ready to use, plus a powerful real-time frequency analyzer (RTA). The two hi-Z inputs feature DigiTech's amp and stompbox modeling with tons of amp, cabinet, and effects options. Soundcraft's Ui24R rackmount digital mixer has all of the signal processing and effects you need to give your performance a professional sound.

The dbx AFS2 feedback system kills feedback dead

The Ui24R's dbx AFS2 feedback suppressor boasts dbx's updated Advanced Feedback Suppression algorithm. The AFS2 listens to the incoming signal and can anticipate problem frequencies before feedback even begins. You won't hear it working, and you won't notice any sonic difference with it in your signal chain. Live sound engineers at Sweetwater know that even if you're an expert at tuning your sound system, cramped stage conditions or careless performers always have the potential of introducing feedback. The built-in dbx AFS2 feedback suppressor system in the Soundcraft Ui24R is like getting sonic insurance for your live sound.

Capture full multitrack recordings

Besides being a top-shelf digital mixer, the Soundcraft Ui24R is also a superb recording tool. Its built-in audio interface makes integrating it with your recording rig a piece of cake. And it allows you to capture all 22 inputs and your stereo mix (24 channels total) onto a USB drive and your DAW simultaneously.

Soundcraft Ui24R Rackmount Digital Mixer Features:

  • Space-saving 24-channel digital mixer
  • Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi enables control with any HTML5-capable browser
  • 20 Studer-designed microphone preamps deliver top-notch recordings

Big D Desktop Control A Nice Bonus

I absolutely love the Big D desktop control option with the Ui24R. It provides a big (thus the name) and very flexible control surface that makes the device a compelling replacement for a medium format hardware mixer. And it still permits other simultaneous controls such as a tablet and/or direct-connect HDMI monitor and keyboard. I put together this video to demonstrate a method for implementing the Big D interface.

High Quality & Portable

We are a 5 piece pop/rock band and use this EVERYWHERE we go. It has been extremely reliable. We added a rack mountable headphone amp so we can use IEMs with the 8 aux outs we each have our own mix. You can connect directly with it through it's own wifi, iPhone or Android. The preamps in it are great and our in-ear mixes sound high quality. The onboard FX are also great and make us sound like pros with a relatively cheap solution. Can't recommend this digital snake enough.

My only (and very small gripe) is that our FOH sound engineer can't be too far away from it to mix on. I would say no more than 25' or else he'll get disconnected.

Haven't even done a gig with it yet, just took it out of the box two days ago and so far I'm blown away.

Haven't even done a gig with it yet, just took it out of the box two days ago and so far I'm blown away.

I'm aware that there are a ton of choices for digital mixers out there
But hey boys and girls. If you're looking for a great and versatile digital mixer at a great price point for small to medium audio duty, this definitely be the one. It is for me anyway.

I started out with the xr18. Two cuz I wanted to backup. 2 years later they both died. I go to replace them and find out they're being discontinued. So I figured I'd jump over to midis mr18, and bam they're dumping that one too. After a little research I discovered that these guys we're not the super mixers I thought they were in terms of longevity. When they worked they were fabulous and did everything I needed without cluttering up my desk with faders and stuff that doesn't apply to the projects I do. Mostly theater work and in house recording.

But it looks like I can get repairs and parts done on this thing if it craps out and hopefully it last longer than the other xr18 units did. at least I can get it repaired. I tried getting my xr18's repaired, but everybody shook their head and said can't get parts, behringer just not supporting it blah blah blah.

That said, behringer was an awesome Segway into digital mixing coming out of mackey analog for life performance and whatever desk was in whatever recording studio for that kind of thing. Being an old guy that I am, and growing up without the internet, when gear went bad in the old days I and my cronies usually blame the retailer. But now with all the transparency online, retailers are pretty much the same. they're more upright and because of the transparency too. They just have to be or they're found out as scammers or cheating on price etc.

let me break for commercial here, in my 10 year experience dealing with sweetwater, their programs, extras, education modules, pricing, support, professionalism and they're ordering systems and processes, set them apart from other retailers. That's just been my personal experience. Overtime I've tried some of the others and not bad, but sweet waters become my main go to for gear, information, and advice. My particular sales engineer mike arango is top shelf and has an extensive background in the types of things that I use. I haven't dealt with other sales engineers but I'm sure there just on point as mike is with their particular disciplines and backgrounds. And when I ask Mike a question out of his purview he immediately responds with I don't know much about that let me put you in touch with... or I'll get an answer for you and I'll get back to you. Not that other retailers don't do that but sweetwater's done it differently in my opinion with a sense of organization I can count on for what I to do in my business.

Anyway enough of the commercial.

And here is the bottom line caveat I wish I aware of and open-minded about when I purchase the xr 18s.

If I had pushed my personal research a little bit further when I was so excited about the xr 18s just took a look at some of the other devices out there like the soundcraft and spent another $ which is roughly the difference between the xr18 and the soundcraft, I would have saved a few hundred bucks long run assuming they soundcraft has the longevity I'm hoping for.

Not complaining cuz I learned a lot about digital mixers does xr 18s and we all know that gear is like anything else. Stuff breaks. You expected to last but sometimes you get a lemon. It just sucks when the whole manufactured line might be manufactured to be a lemon, we've all purchased that kind of crap off of facebook and amazon.

Anyway, if you're looking for a digital mixer in a box without the minutia of faders, meters and a million wires hanging up your desk, it would have been worth spending a few extra dollars at the outset and learning about digital mixers on the soundcraft at $ then having spent around that same amount on devices that died.

Of course this is all hindsight for me so I can act accordingly in the future. Hopefully my mistakes and hindsight can be useful in your decision making looking for a digital mixer.

Technology at it's Best

This unit is just amazing! We needed an upgrade for a multi-band concert and at first I was a bit intimidated, but with a little help and a little time studying, this thing is so easy and full of everything you would want in a mixer and more!
Thanks go out to the Sweetwater Team for all their support and always glad to help!
