BeatBox Anthology 2 gives you an exhaustively complete collection of classic drum machine sounds and loops; in fact, it taps every generation of these instruments. Since its version 1 introduction, BeatBox Anthology has become the primary source of these iconic sounds for many musicians here at Sweetwater. Though these cult machines haven't been considered "state of the art" since the '70s, '80s, or '90s, their sounds are still very much in demand for urban, hip-hop, electro-house, and electro-pop productions.

But when you're ready to roll up your sleeves and dig deep into sound design, BBA2 has you covered with a powerful, versatile 3-oscillator architecture for each of its 12 tracks. You'll have independent control over volume, pitch, distortion, lowpass and highpass filters, and sample start offset; plus an AHD envelope with selectable decay shape that lets you sculpt, layer, and blend drum samples together to create exciting new hybrids — all with authentic hardware sounds. Season to taste with compression and 3-band EQ.
Onboard sequencer with drag-and-drop MIDI
UVI equipped BeatBox Anthology 2 with a powerful 64-step sequencer packed with preset patterns. Need a basic sequence to loop while you design your kit? Want to dig deeper and create bespoke beats for your track? Either way, this sequencer is fast — and a blast — to use. Simply set your pattern length, load a preset into your sequence; then nudge tracks and apply functions. And when you’re done, drag-and-drop the MIDI directly into your DAW. It's that easy!
A brief history
Initially designed to imitate real drum and percussion sounds, the first drum machines available to the masses were introduced in the late 1960s. Analog synthesis was the the first technology used to generate the drum sounds and most models left no opportunity for the user to alter or modify the pre-programmed rhythms. In the '80s, the first models using low-resolution digital samples arrived on the scene, and they were quickly deployed on countless hit records. The '90s saw an evolution toward improved sound quality.
