Capture the Crunch of an All-time California Classic

A watershed year for high-gain amplification, 1992 introduced the double-rectified monster that would unite metalheads, punks, and rockers alike with its fire-breathing tone. Three decades down the line, Universal Audio’s Knuckles ’92 Rev F Dual Rec Amplifier puts the punch of that all-time classic tube head on your pedalboard. This stereo amp and cab simulation pedal’s Green, Orange, and Red channel voicings supply everything from the original amp’s signature tight and ultra-saturated gain-laden sounds to a rich palette of full-bodied cleans. Six classic microphone and cabinet configurations allow you to twist and tweak Knuckles’ response to your taste, and you also get an onboard TS-style overdrive, preamp boost, and a noise gate to cut out unwanted noise. What’s more, Universal Audio’s UAFX app unlocks a host of expanded tone-shaping options, including the ability to switch between EL34 and 6L6 power tubes, change from solid-state to tube rectification, and fine-tune every element of every setting. Additionally, with USB MIDI compatibility, you can further expand your control with additional presets and performance modes. From subterranean nu-metal riffage to buzzsaw pop-punk crunch to arguably the most pivotal metal tones of the ’90s and the aughts, Universal Audio’s Knuckles ’92 pedal comprehensively captures the soul of hard-hitting California boogie.

Multichannel madness

Universal Audio’s UAFX pedals are revered at Sweetwater for their uncompromising commitment to sonic accuracy, capturing every tonal nuance and harmonic detail of the amps that inspired them. And to truly replicate the vibe of a classic double-rectified amplifier, one voice simply won’t cut it — the original amp’s trio of channels ran the tonal gamut, resulting in its widespread adoption among players from disparate musical backgrounds. To match the flexibility of the original, Knuckles packs three channels: Green, Red, and Orange. Combined with this pedal’s built-in TS-style overdrive and integrated preamp boost, Knuckles tackles everything from face-melting lead tones to thunderous crunch, along with a pleasing assortment of cleans to balance out this pedal’s all-out aggression.

4-cable mode offers powerful channel switching

Each pedal in Universal Audio’s UAFX series features a special “4-cable” mode accessible via the UAFX Control app, allowing you to bypass your amp’s preamp when the pedal is engaged for incredibly realistic tube-style tones. By hooking your pedal up to both your effects loop send/return and the front of amp input, you can instantly switch between your amp’s stock tone and your UAFX pedal routed straight into the power amp, effectively adding two extra channels to your amplifier. What’s more, Universal Audio designed this feature with multiple pedal setups in mind — you can connect any number of UAFX pedals in this configuration for multichannel madness.

Switch up your speakers

Most of Knuckles’ magic is in its handpicked microphone and speaker combinations, bolstered by Universal Audio’s Dynamic Room Modeling technology. Knuckles sports three of these settings right out of the box, granting you a trio of roaring 4 x 12-inch tones to choose from. Furthermore, you can connect to the UAFX app to unlock three additional cabs.

Get the most out of your UAFX gear

UAFX 2.0 is here, designed to give you the greatest control over your tone and your live setup. With this latest update, the Knuckles ’92 boasts improved Bluetooth and USB-C controls for enhanced connection with Universal Audio's powerful UAFX app, new footswitch modes for intelligent preset switching, and USB MIDI control, opening a world of vast performance capabilities. Whether you engage the UAFX app to unlock deeper tone shaping and access artist-curated presets and effects, explore Live, Tour, and A/B-C/D footswitch performance modes, or connect with your programmable MIDI rig for access to 128 recallable presets and enhanced real-time expression, UAFX 2.0 is primed to elevate every dimension of your playing experience.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!

Legendary amp, in the shape of a pedal
People whine way too much about features. What good is an amp sim if it has all the features but not the sound?
Nobody ever complained that a real Dual Rectifier doesn't come with MIDI control or whatever other stupid feature.. that's what UA set out to do with these pedals -- they set out to remake the experience of the original amp, and they nailed that. The sound is RIGHT, the switches and controls you'd have on the real amp are there. It's not as if people were constantly switching on and off switches on the back of the amp...

The confusion, I think, is the pedal form factor.. it being a pedal triggers pedal guys who are used to complaining about features. This isn't a typical pedal.. this is a pedal-shaped amp. They nailed it. They knew the assignment and they made it happen.

If you're looking for endless features go get a Quad Cortex or whatever other thing.
If you're looking for an authentic-sounding Rev F Dual Rectifier from 1992, it's right here.
Sturdy construction, the knobs and switches are solid, and the sound is spot-on.
Most of the demo videos on YouTube do it a great disservice.

Another killer component modeled amp fm UAFX
Utterly dead on rendering of the best Mesa Dual Rec amp. I have 4 of these pedals and this one is the pinnacle high gain, which is not to say the 5150 one isn't all that and more. But the 5150 has a killer clean channel on par with any of the others. Dial this Dual Rec in, get your boost right and it is so fun to play you will wail for hours. The app component modeled options are just over the top allowing for all manner of Dual Rec amp options. Sounds amazing using drop tunings as well. I had come and gone on many modeler units before UAFX came out with these zero latency jewels. Try them out you will not be disappointed and you will not be able to tell from the amp.
been using most of these amp modeler pedals for a while now...
I have little issues w the editor and yeah sure we are spoiled we want vast editors and way too much preset storage, bells and whistles, chimes and chants. But, despite these are largely "component modeled" to behave and have functions like several versions of the amp itself. The deal is the sound and feel, ands these puppies do the deal. It might take you a while to understand the params and get it tweaked in but all these amp pedals are bloody killer. You can work around the app thing and indeed some have problems connecting it seems. But when it is working this one one killer sounding and feeling pedal! All of the them are. It is the modeler for those who hate modelers or are allergic to deep editor params. It has just enough cool features not to get lost in option paralysis but enough to entirely alter the pedal gain and feel structure. If you're curious about amp modeling and want to try it, you're about to crap your pants how real these pedals can be. In time they can easily fix the editor app thing but the important thing is how it sounds and feels.
Love this pedal!
I always loved the tonality of a dual rectifier. It's think heavy burley and punchy. This pedal does it. I plug it in the power amp plug on my boss katana and it simply delivers the sound I was searching for from it. It's on the higher priced side of pedals but it's worth it! I would totally recommend this to anyone! I even showed this to a good friend of mine and we purchased one after hearing it!
glory years dual rec tone
Hangs with the best modelers, can easily gig with this. The pedal is a lot of fun and the cab IRs are good. Great portable amp on a pedal.
