Classic Magnatone Vibrato, Tremolo and Reverb

For touring and recording guitarists alike, the Magnatone Twilighter 112 tube combo amp delivers the iconic sound of classic American combo amps. Equipped with the legendary Magnatone pitch-shifting vibrato circuit, plus pulsating tremolo and lush spring reverb, the Twilighter 112 covers an exceptional sonic range. Loaded with a custom 12" speaker with ceramic magnet, and 22 watts of Class AB amplification, this combo has a fast and detailed response that accepts pedals extremely well. Often imitated but never duplicated, the Magnatone Twilighter 112 tube combo is an outstanding amp whether you have a big pedalboard or just plug straight in.

Legendary Magnatone vibrato and tremolo

Designed in the late '50s, the varistor-based Magnatone vibrato circuit is widely accepted as one of the best-sounding vibrato and tremolo circuits ever made. Updated for maximum reliability, the LFO in this circuit is now more stable than ever and allows for a wider range of effects — from extremely slow modulation to very fast shimmer. You can switch between vibrato and tremolo modes, and can even control the modulation speed with an external expression pedal (sold separately).

True tube-driven spring reverb

For true '50s-'60s guitar tone you can't beat the sound of tube-driven spring reverb. The Magnatone Twilighter 112 combo packs a four-spring long-pan reverb tank with counterwound springs. It's generally accepted that counterwound springs deliver a clearer sound with less resonance and "clang." Expect a classy and spacious sound from the Twilighter 112 combo even at high reverb levels.

Custom 12" speaker with ceramic magnet

If there's one thing guitarists at Sweetwater love to see in a combo, it's a custom speaker designed specifically for that amp. This custom 12" speaker with ceramic magnet has a fast, detailed sound with nicely balanced lows, mids, and highs. Clean tones sound very sweet, and it maintains its sonic balance with overdrive and distortion.

Magnatone Twighlighter is awesome!

I bought this amp a few months ago and return it, but not because it isn't awesome. I have a couple of amps and simply decided I did not need another. I thank Sweetwater for the opportunity to try it.

This amp is comparable to a Fender Deluxe Reverb in a number of obvious ways: wattage, size, weight, onboard tremolo and reverb, non-master volume, treble and bass controls. On the other hand, it definitely has it's own tonal profile. It breaks up earlier than my DRRI, and the sound of the break up is really great. Also, the clarity and definition of notes and notes within chords was pretty amazing. Everything you play seems to pop forward effortlessly.

It seemed to reach almost full volume by the time you get to three on the volume knob. From there, you are mostly adding gain by turning it up further. That said, it is pretty loud at by the time you get to three. So you can get cleans below 3, but the volume taper is pretty steep in that range between 1 and 3.

For me, I felt like my DRRI was more practical for gigs because the volume taper is more gradual and I think the DRRI has a little more clean headroom. I can also worry less about the DRRI getting stolen. That said, if you want something that resembles a Deluxe Reverb but has a unique tone and fabulous reverb and tremolo effects, then you would probably love this amp.

Best amp I ever heard

Been looking at boutique amps for a while. Just trying to find that amp that has that awe factor. Watched countless videos trying to get an idea of
Which amp was going to do it. Lots of names that stores don't carry. Finally watched Andertons do a demo on the Magna tone. You could tell just
By watching the video that it was probably the best thing they had ever heard. So I watched this amp at sweetwater thinking they might run 48 month financing. They did and I bought one. Let me tell you. You have never heard tone until you play this amp. No pedals and it will blow your mind
It's setting next to Fender 65 reverb Deluxe and a Friedman JJ 4-12 cab. The Fender is a great amp but can't touch the Magnatone. The Friedman is a Marshall sound and is great but again this little beast has its own everything.

Sweetwater and Magnatone customer service are awesome

During the quarantine I decided to pull the plug on the Twilighter. I'd watched several videos and without playing one in person, decided to take the risk. Sweetwater had a demo model for a few hundred bucks less than a brand new model. I confirmed with Sweetwater it came with the footswitch and cover, but unfortunately when it showed up, the footswitch was missing. I reached out to Sweetwater, and they sent me a brand new Twilighter in replacement. So I got to playing the Twilighter, and its voicing is stunning. It's clear, it breaks up right, the tremolo/vibrato is stunningly rich, the reverb is as it should be. A few weeks later the volume dropped out. I reached out to Magnatone and they told me to play around with the tubes, and if that didn't work I could send them the amp. It worked. Then a few weeks later I'd get a powerful popping sound. I reached out to Magnatone and told them I'd like to send it in - I just didn't feel comfortable with this new (and expensive) of an amp not working right. So I shipped it to them, they looked at it, told me it was tube related, and technically not covered under warranty, but would cover all expenses regardless. They also noticed some dings in the cabinet which probably occurred during shipping. The rehoused the amp in a brand new cabinet, and sent it back to me - all at no cost to me. Amp plays like a charm now.

So, I can't sell you on this amp. You know your sound, you know what you're looking for. Research this amp, if it's it, go for it. But I really want to shout out to both Sweetwater and Magnatone for beyond excellent customer service. We live in a world where good customer service is a luxury, and I was very well taken care of.
