More Than Twice the Output of a Standard RAT

Do you love the sound of the RAT's hard-clipping distortion, but wish it spanked the front end of your amp a bit harder? Pro Co has the solution to your conundrum: the Turbo RAT. This dirt pedal houses a modified RAT circuit, utilizing red LEDs instead of silicon clipping diodes. The result is the famous RAT-style grind with more than twice the output of its predecessor — the perfect boost for sending your on-the-brink American-style combo into sweet overdrive or turbocharging your already-distorted British head for high-octane metal. The Turbo RAT boasts the same 3-knob layout as its vintage counterparts, along with a rugged on/off footswitch and a stylish "o" status LED. If you want a RAT that's boiling with rage, that's the Pro Co Turbo RAT in a nutshell. There's a reason why it's been a longstanding staple on post-punk and noise-rock guitarists' pedalboards for more than three decades.

Dial in a wide range of useable tones

The Turbo RAT includes the same intuitive top-panel controls as its forerunners: Distortion, Filter, and Volume. You use the Distortion knob to dial in the total amount of saturation. At its minimum setting, this control acts as a fuel-injected dirty boost; at maximum, it delivers harmonic-laden fuzz tones. The Filter knob gives you lots of sonic flexibility. Turn the control counterclockwise for mix-piercing tones with lots of clarity; twist it clockwise to roll off your highs for a warm, cranked amp-like tone. The Volume knob adjusts your total output level. You can run the Turbo RAT at unity gain for a bit of added grit or crank it to punish the front end of your amp. Countless guitarists here at Sweetwater have a RAT on their pedalboard — it's a must-have stompbox.

Pro Co Turbo RAT Pedal Features:

  • The famous RAT-style hard-clipping distortion
  • Eschews the original RAT's silicon clipping diodes for red LEDs
  • Yields you more than twice the output of a standard RAT pedal
  • Tailor-made for boosting the front end of your amplifier
  • Distortion knob dials in the total amount of saturation
  • Filter knob conjures up a myriad of sonic textures
  • Volume knob adjusts your total output level

TurboRat

I've tried lots of pedals to get distorted sound for my bass guitar, but this one is really my favourite. Enough power to replace guitars from low and mid-low.

RAT x RAT!

A friend asked "why this Rat?" i said "it says Turbo right there!" It has that extra bite I want in my sound and it is always plugged in--I play it every time I play. It's Turbo!
Music background: songwriter.

Great Pedal

This pedal is a real winner. It is much better than the average distortion pedal. $115 is well worth it, it is has a solid metal body and the knobs feel very sturdy. Mine developed an input problem after several years of use, I shipped it to ProCo and they fixed it for free, and sent it back with a tee shirt and candy! they are an excellent company.

In the end i have nothing bad to say about this. even if you use your amp distortion this can help. I use this to give me an extra boost with my Marshall JCM 800

turbo rat

I hadn't used a rat distortion pedal in quite some time. I always liked the sound, but currently was using a multi-effects pedal that had tons of distortion settings along with the usual delay, and chorus, etc.- got bored and went back to a more aggressive sound w/ the turbo rat . it works well with most other stomp boxes. it's a great, versatile almost old school type fuzz tone. the down side is it's a little noisy, and if you choose to use 9v batteries, you have to remember to unplug your cable from the input jack, or it'll eat the battery.

Not bad....but.....

I bought this to use for my bass(everybody seems to use the Big Muff....I was trying to be different..)...Although the pedal is very well constructed....and seemed to sound great.....It didn't have quite the amount of distortion I wanted. That is just my personal opinion....and is not negative against the pedal.....the problem is every time I hit the switch....the "pop" was very loud through my bass amp...I didn't even try it through my guitar setup since that is not what I bought it for...maybe you'll have better luck...
