100-watt Head with Multi-Soak Attenuation

When it comes to all-tube guitar amplifiers aimed at rock and metal, not many companies can claim the proud history of Mesa/Boogie. They continue the tradition with this 100-watt monster, the Triple Crown TC-100 amp head. In true Mesa fashion, the TC-100's three channels take you from spanky American-style cleans to face-melting gain. And it does it while staying tight and defined throughout the entire range. Throw in a boatload of player-friendly features, such as Multi-Soak power attenuation on each channel, MIDI, and a built-in CabClone, and you have your one-stop shop for all things rock.

Three wide-ranging channels

Though the Triple Crown's three channels feature a straightforward design, that doesn't make them any less versatile and powerful than other Mesa designs. Channel One's toggle switch selects between Normal and Drive modes and can deliver sparkling performance or vintage-style breakup. Channel Two offers Normal and Tight modes to control its mid-gain voice. Rock 'n' roll players will love this channel. And Channel Three also utilizes Normal and Tight modes to deliver classic Mesa/Boogie high-gain drive.

Multi-Soak power attenuation

The 100 watts of all-tubed power is a lot of juice. And though it offers many tonal benefits, sometimes that much power isn't required. That's why Mesa has included their Multi-Soak power attenuation on the Triple Crown TC-100. Each channel boasts its own selection of 3-, 7-, 20-, 50-, and 100-watt operation. With the push of the included 6-button footswitch, you can go from roaring 100-watt high gain to the vintage vibe of your clean channel pushing hard on a 3-watt setting. Thanks to Multi-Soak power attenuation, the TC-100 may be one of the most versatile tube amp heads at Sweetwater.

Built-in CabClone

The Triple Crown TC-100 head packs a built-in CabClone internal amp load and speaker simulator. It provides an incredibly realistic speaker-emulated direct output to plug right into the sound system or recording chain. You can still use it in conjunction with your favorite speaker cabinet, or forget the cab and go direct for silent practice through headphones or recording. This also allows you to cut down on stage volume, which will help give your band a tighter, more controlled live sound.

Loaded with guitarist-friendly features

Not only is the Mesa Engineering Triple Crown TC-100 100-watt all-tube amp head a fantastic-sounding amplifier, but it also boasts a bevy of features that every guitarist will find beneficial. The true spring reverb tank is footswitchable, along with the tube-buffered effects loop. The amp ships with EL-34 power tubes for British vibe, but a bias-select switch enables the TC-100 to run beautifully with either 6V6 or 6L6 power tubes as well. And the amp head is also MIDI ready, enabling it to integrate into even the most advanced guitar rigs.

Mesa/Boogie Triple Crown TC-100 100-watt Amp Head Features:

  • All-tube head amplifier aimed at great rock guitar tones
  • Multi-Soak power attenuation on each channel offers 3-, 7-, 20-, 50-, and 100-watt operation
  • 3-channel design offers super clean, crunch, and intense high gain
  • CabClone DI output offers direct speaker simulated tones
  • Spring reverb is footswitchable
  • MIDI-capable switching
  • Powered by EL-34 power tubes

  • Tube-buffered effects loop

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!

Reviews

High Gain Heaven
I've owned a few Mesas over the years. Mark IIB series, Triple Rectifier and the Badlander 100. This is by far my favorite! Instantly threw a new quad of Mesa 6L6's in and haven't looked back! Low end thump! The gain stages are impeccable, cleans are butter, reverb is phenomenal, the built in attenuation is stellar. From whisper quiet to wreaking havoc this amp delivers! I run my Boss GT-1000 effects in 4cm through the TC-100 and it's a match made in heaven. I'm going to get another TC-100 to run stereo!
Music background: 23 years playing guitar
Another great amp from Mesa
This is one of the most versatile amps that I have ever owned. The clean is crisp and chimey just like a Fender, the blue channel voiced like your favorite vintage British amp and the red channel will melt your face off with plenty of gain on tap.
Best Amp I Ever Owned and Excellent Customer Service
I recently purchased a Mesa/Boogie Triple Crown TC-100 head from Sweetwater, and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. This is my first tube amp experience, and honestly, it's the best amp I've ever used. One of my favorite features is the multi-level power soak—having a high-powered amp but still being able to dial it down for smaller spaces is a huge game changer where this gives you incredible flexibility without sacrificing tone. The factory distortion sounds fantastic right out of the box, and the amp also pairs really well with pedals if you want to shape your own sound. It's incredibly versatile and delivers on every level. Shipping was smooth and professional—no damage at all, and the carrier handled everything with care. On top of that, Sweetwater's customer service really stands out. They actually follow up with you to make sure you're satisfied, which is rare these days. Overall, I'm a very happy customer and would absolutely recommend both the amp head and Sweetwater.
Absolutely crushes, another Boogie masterpiece.
People have been saying this is a hybrid between a British and American high gain amp and I would agree with that - maybe more like 30/70 ratio. If you're looking for a Marshall sound with a Mesa label on it, this isn't it. This is a very aggressive Mesa amp, with plenty of midrange and high mid punch, but never gets fizzy/muddy. Plenty of gain available on the lo-gain channel, and the hi-gain channel absolutely crushes. A great "channel switching" amp. Very tight and fast, has great low end for anybody playing 7 strings. There's so much gain in this thing, it's just silly. It's VERY easy to dial in tones (when compared to a Mark V - which I also own). The clean channel is warm, and crisp. I would say this is amp sounds more like a Mark series amp (with more gain) than a Recto, but it's still its own unique thing when compared to those to families, and it's absolutely killer. I love it. It can get noisy as you pour on the gain (duh), so I definitely recommend having a quality noise gate for it. If you want a little extra magic, get a Mesa Boogie Tone Burst pedal for a clean boost, leave it on, and you'll just die and go to heaven.

Almost 3 years in and it's amazing
Bought this amp in spring 2018 and wanted to share my thoughts.

This amp is incredible. As someone who looks for both vintage and modern tones, I was having trouble finding an amp that suited my needs. I'm not a big fan of amp modelers, prefer a plug and play approach with pedals instead, and I don't think there's a more versatile amp on the market.

You can get classic crunchy Brit tones along with modern high gain from this amp, and you really don't need much else. I use a few different overdrive pedals in front of the amp, but they're not really necessary (I use them for a clean boost mostly). I play a lot of classic rock (Zeppelin, Pink Floyd), prog (Dream Theater), and modern djent/metal including 8-string low tuning stuff (Lamb of God, Meshuggah, Leprous), and the amp can handle all easily. There's no flub on the bottom end when doing heavy down tuned palm muted lines, and there's a head of breath and headroom that I feel you can't get with a digital rig.

The only aspect I've struggled with is getting jangly cleans since the amp is so mid forward. Some of this might have to do with the power tubes (I use the stock EL-34s). My remedy for this has been to keep the mids all the way down on the clean channel with the gain somewhat low, and then to use my overdrive pedals as a clean boost. A nice reverb pedal helps as well. This is a fairly minor complaint, because a lot of bands that utilize those chimy clean sounds do so with a lot of digital processing.

Overall, hard to imagine most wouldn't love this amp. With the bias switch you can swap out the tubes if you're not a fan of the EL34s.

It's hard to imagine a more quintessentially modern guitar amplifier than a Mesa/Boogie, and when Sweetwater guitarists want high-gain tone, Mesa is where they start. One thing we love about these amps is their sheer versatility, such as the massive range of tone you get from each channel, the freedom to use the tubes you love, onboard CabClone cabinet emulation, and MIDI control. And it's not just guitar amps - Mesa/Boogie's bass amps and pedals are equally cool. What's more, thanks to our incredibly close relationship with Mesa, you can even customize your own amp right here on Sweetwater's website! Get the sound and style you want from your next amp, with a Mesa/Boogie from Sweetwater.
