So slight caveat, I've never heard a real 1176, but IK has never steered me wrong. This thing is melted butter on anything, just like I've read about the real one. Drums and drum samples fkkkkkk, super fast attack, nuts. Buy this, love this, it's a great deal.

This ones a sleeper. I've been a IK user since I began recording and mixing about 15 years ago and this plugin doesn't disappoint. It holds it's own next to my Stam Audio SA76D+ and one of the few Rev D plugins on the market so anyone comparing it to others that aren't Rev D aren't giving it a fair comparison as even all the hardware revisions are different.

Seriously NOW!, most people don't choose IK stuff over other Big brands out there, but let me tell you something! This cat rocks!
I've used it for the past 2 years and i've come to love it's tone and compression character!
Let's face it.
No plugin will ever be 100% accurate to it's Hardware Big brother. It simply can't
BUT it can get pretty close and give you great results!. Treat it with respect! READ THE FREAKING MANUAL and play with it till you see it working it's magic!
It love it on drums, vocals, and bass guitars!.
don't listen to people when they say it's doesn't sound like the hardware! in fact embrace the fact that it sounds close enough to do the same work! for a fraction of your money!.

I got this plugin packaged with an audio console, and was interested in trying it out, seeing the reviews. Installation was a ridiculous runaround, with the jankiest authorization software, that required lots of trial and error, and moved at glacial speeds, but eventually I got it. Then, I noticed a long list of other plugins showed up in the DAW, taking about 4 gigs of space on my SSD. Did a little more digging, and found out that these additional plugins cannot be individually uninstalled, except by deleting the DLLs, and then those get force re-installed every time there's an update. ABSOLUTELY, COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. This is an example of malicious UX design, and to me and many others, no amount of benefits gained by the software, can justify these types of practices. I just got done wiping my systems of everything IK Multimedia makes, and will NEVER buy an IK Multimedia product, and will vocally encourage everyone else to do the same! EVEN IF IT'S FREE, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!
