Sustain-enhancing Cymbal Topper

Return the sustain that traditional cymbal felts and wing nuts have robbed your cymbals with the Trick Drums Resonator. This cymbal topper minimizes damping and vibration transfer to the stand, resulting in smoother, longer tails from your crashes, chinas, and rides. The Resonator is comprised of three parts: a post for 8mm cymbal stands, a Trick Drums Outburst spring, and an engraved machined aluminum nut. Together, these give cymbals enhanced tone, a cohesive look, and improved life. If you demand the most out of your cymbals, equip your stands with Trick Drums Resonator cymbal toppers from Sweetwater.

Trick Drums Resonator Cymbal Topper Feature:

  • Improves on traditional felt-and-wing nut designs
  • Fits standard 8mm cymbal stands
  • Increases cymbal sustain
  • Extends cymbal life
  • Offers a cohesive, professional look
  • Includes cymbal post, Outburst spring, and aluminum nut
  • Made in the USA

Does the thing
These resonators are great. Instant difference. And don't worry about your stands being the exception to the rule with a little creativity/ ingenuity you can use this system with any stands including dw 9000 (hint: use an appropriate sized washer) I actually use these in conjunction with the CRS system. If I didn't have the cash to spring (pun!) for CRS I wouldn't hesitate to use these on every cymbal. Especially the large ones.
Doesn't fit DW 9000 Series Stands
I purchased this a few months ago with some other items. My plan was to have this one on my ride cymbal. However, when I tried to put it on my DW 9000 series stand from around 2010, the top nut will not screw down far enough, so the top spring is basically free to move and rattled on the cymbal, defeating the purpose.

I contacted Trick to see if I was doing something wrong. The owner, Mike, is a great guy and got back to me very promptly to his credit. He advised that it appears that the topper is incompatible with that series of stand. He did also say he them on his "Gibraltar stands, others have them on Yamaha, Tama and I'm sure even DW."

I think the DW 9000 series stands are likely the most ubiquitous and sought after among professionals and those who want the best. So, it was very surprising to me that it wouldn't work.

I regret purchasing this product, as it's become a relatively expensive paperweight; I wish more info on compatibility was available prior to purchase--as there was basically none. Sweetwater offered for me to return the product and pay for the return shipping. The cost of the return shipping I believe would be the majority portion of my refund. I figured that I'd be better off just hoping I could find a stand to use it on one day. This is one of the few times that I haven't been incredibly pleased with Sweetwater's handling of a situation.

It's a neat concept, but for me, I don't think I'll ever get to use it. Trick normally makes great products, but this is an absolute dud.
