Pretty darn good

This has been my bass since I began playing a year and a half ago. Easy to navigate the fret board, good tone with a little bit of tweaking, plus flat wound strings. I've been gigging with it for the last 5 months and it does great-- tons of sound through my Rocket Bass amp. Only downside is this is a pretty heavy instrument, so I almost always play sitting down, even during shows, because my shoulder wears out. This is awesome for playing at home and recording with, but it you plan to stand and play a ton, you might go a different direction (for context, 5'9" F, 165 lb, preexisting shoulder/neck issues).

Bought for a beginner

Great look and great price to get my 15 daughter both started out right and interested. It's a perfect size for her and sounds great.

So much bang for your buck.

I'm mostly a guitar player but needed a bass for doing my own recording. I have a completely utilitarian relationship with the bass guitar: I have no romantic feelings about brands or legacy and I don't know much about the ergonomic experience of different basses. I just wanted the cheapest bass that would get the job done, and I wanted short scale because it'll get 99% of its use in my tiny music room.

Now, though. Now I LOVE this thing. I love the Talman body style, and the it was a tough decision between mint green and cream. The hardware feels solid, unlike some low end guitars in the same price range I've played. All in all, I would've settled with being merely satisfied with my purchase, but I love everything about this bass. 10/10 would recommend.

Perfect Bass for Beginners and Experienced

I ordered this bass after becoming interested in taking over for our graduating bassist at my college. I have a lot of experience with guitar but wanted to find something that would be easy to adjust to fast enough. This bass pretty much came set up perfectly right out of the box. Perfect for small hands or people who are coming over for guitar. I highly recommend this!

Nice short scale bass at a great price

I bought this bass kind of on the spur of the moment and have never tried any of the ibanez Talman basses prior to this purchase. I am very pleased with the bass. The fit and finish are near flawless. The fret ends are clean with no fret sprout. I set action to 2 mm on the E and 1.75 mm on the G with now buzzing. I could go lower but set all my basses to similar action. The frets could use a minor polishing which I might do later, but they are good as is. The neck is a tad thicker than the Fender or Squier Mustangs that I've tried which I like. The back of the neck is a smooth satin finish and very nice feeling. Balance is good when using a 2 inch wide cotton weave strap.
The electronics sound very nice. The P pickup is clear and punchy and the J has a nice growl. Since the J is a single coil it has some 60 cycle noise comparable to most other single coils.
The bridge looks like the same bridge used on many ibanez basses and is very nice quality. The tuners seem to hold tuning well and look to be the same ones used on the Squire Mustang.
The neck had the proper relief out the box. I've swapped strings to a slightly different gauge and the neck barely moved to the different tension.
Playability is very nice. I have no complaints about the bass. I thought I'd swap the pups with DiMarzios but I'm more than satisfied with leaving it stock.
This bass in my opinion blows the Squier Bullet basses I've played away.
The Ibanez wins with fit and finish, electronics, fretwork sound, etc.
