Classic Bassman Style with Power to Spare!

Fender's Super Bassman - the name says it all. Claiming its place at the head of the table, Fender's 300-watt, all-tube bass amp employs modern technology to maximize classic Fender tube mojo. With six 6550s in its engine room, this stadium-level head sports tasty mid-'60s Fender Black Panel styling and two footswitchable channels: vintage (serving up classic Fender warmth), and overdrive (with the responsive, aggressive sound of a modern active tone stack). You also get modern touches such as Automatic Bias and an XLR out. If you need an arena-scorching bass amp, check out Fender's Super Bassman.

Fender Super Bassman Bass Amp Head at a Glance:
  • Big power for big gigs
  • Automatic Bias: the best of vintage and modern technology
  • Two channels: the best of vintage and modern tone
Big power for big gigs

The Fender Super Bassman bass amp head serves up massive power for the largest gigs. Playing arenas? There aren't very many bass amp choices out there. Now there's a new contender in the monster tube bass amp sweepstakes. Whether you're dialing up warm, round vintage Fender bass or tight, aggressive modern bass tones, the Super Bassman delivers it all - at spleen-shaking volumes.

Automatic Bias: the best of vintage and modern technology

The Fender Super Bassman gives you the best of vintage and modern. You get Fender's classic tube mojo - juiced with sophisticated technology such as Fender's very cool Automatic Bias that keeps you from spending time messing with your amp's tubes when you should be playing. Automatic Bias constantly monitors and automatically re-biases tubes for optimal performance - and even alerts you when service is required!

Two channels: the best of vintage and modern tone

Fender's Super Bassman puts the best of vintage and modern tone right under your foot. The Super Bassman has two footswitchable channels - vintage and overdrive. The vintage channel serves up the round, warm, classic Fender sound of a passive tone stack. Kick this valve beast into overdrive, however, and prepare for shock and awe. You get the tight, responsive, and aggressive sound of a modern active tone stack. Versatile would be far too weak a word. Jekyll and Hyde might be more like it...

Fender Super Bassman Tube Bass Amp Head Features:
  • 300 watts of all-tube tone
  • 2 channels - vintage and overdrive (footswitchable)
  • Silent record mode; XLR out
  • Fender Automatic Bias
  • Included footswitch

Fender's Super Bassman - the new contender in the monster bass amp arena!

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Beautiful Sounding Amp
I had an Ampeg PF-50, Ampeg V-4B, and Ampeg SVT. All were good tube amplifiers on, but this one is something special. The Vintage channel sounds perfect with all of the cut-only tone controls at 100%. I am still experimenting with the Overdrive channel.
Best Bass Amp Ever!
My wife surprised me with an Ibanez 5 string bass. When it came time to shop for an amp I was torn between a Mesa TT800 or this. My wife really wanted the tube sound and after watching a few videos about this amp I decided to make the next move. I called my rep JD Shamoun. He was more than fantastic offering different options at various price points. Im no professional player, but I do like to go go big. JD took care of me and had it shipped next day. The sound is absolutely fantastic from super warm to bright and snappy. This amp is super versatile allowing jazz, funk, rock and metal. I like the fact that you can adjust the bias as well for a little extra. I couldn't be happier with both the amp and JD's service! Forever a Sweetwater customer!
Best amp out there
I've owned this amp since January of this year, courtesy of Sweetwater. I am absolutely astounded by how good it is. Great overdrive, flawless Fender clean tone.
This is the primary weapon for my black metal band, with it not only having a perfect overdrive for my bass, but being an astounding pedal platform for my Bass VI.
Overall, I am very happy with the purchase, and recommend it to anyone needing a tube amp( definitely get this over ampeg, there's no comparison)
It's just so versatile
Do you want an all tube amp that will let you play everything from Motown to GWAR without needing any pedals? This is it.

I use the vintage channel in a power pop band for a nice round tone with not much edge to it.

I use the overdrive channel in a hardcore punk band with the drive way up and blended in. The best part about the OD is that unlike with many pedals, this OD loses no low end even when blended all the way on.

I've noticed many touring bands playing these in the last couple years so I think the secret is out. This is a future classic.
Awesome Bass Amp
Absolutely love this amp. So deep and rich with the matching 4 ten cab. Doesn't get any better in my humble opinion. It also doesn't suck as a guitar amp. Love it! Get one!
Music background: Serious amateur.
