Massive Tone Without the Massive Weight

Designed to be portable without sacrificing tone, the Ashdown Studio 15 is no small amp. This massive 300-watt amp pumps out all the volume you need without breaking your back on the way to the show. The Studio 15 is loaded with a specially designed Ashdown NEO speaker and tweeter and has great features such as a footswitchable valve-emulated overdrive, 5-band EQ, and switchable active/passive input to accommodate all pickup configurations. The balanced DI output lets you easily plug into a PA system. And when we demoed this amp at Sweetwater, we were surprised by how much sound could come out of such a light package. This amplifier is a lightweight beast that sounds as good as it looks.

Flexible tonal options

The Studio 15's speaker is back-ported to provide deeper bass response, and it has an intuitive control panel that lets you experiment with an almost unlimited array of sounds. You can dial in your tone using the same 5-band EQ found in the Ashdown Rootmaster and OriginAL ranges. And if you like to push your amp a little harder, you can use a footswitch to toggle the valve-emulated overdrive. You can even turn off the tweeter by flipping the switch on the rear of the amp.

Lightweight construction saves your back

The Studio 15 is made from a super-lightweight poplar-ply to help keep the weight low. Even the Studio NEO speaker was specifically designed by Ashdown to reduce weight. At an astonishing 24.6 pounds, the Studio 15 still pumps out 300-watts and weighs less than your pet Beagle.

Classic look, Ashdown sound

When you take this amp out of the box, you'll love the clean, vintage looking face. The heavy-duty black tolex and chrome corner protectors will help you protect your amp from scratches and bumps for years. And setting the EQ's at noon, this amp will pump out the warm and articulate Ashdown sound you know and love.

Practice and gig.

Ordered in June and received in November. Well worth the wait. Was looking for a lightweight alternative to the Ampegs I've been using. The fliptops are awkward to move. They really should have handles on the sides.
The 15 Studio has 300w which is less than the 500w and 800w Ampegs but turns out to be enough for both practice and gigging for me.
I took the advice in the manual and started with all the tone controls in the neutral position and find that minor tweaking is all that's needed with the equipment I use. Well one narrow room we play in needs the low bass dropped way down or it's boomy. I do wish the tube emulator had a finer control pot. It's a bit touchy.

A Great Sounding Bass Amp

For my bass rigs, I usually run a bass amp a speaker cab. I have been looking high and low for a bass amp combo that you could use for both practice rehearsal and performance, this Ashdown studio, 15 works for all of those applications. I was blown away by the sound of this bass amplifier and would highly recommend it for those trying to get a nice big warm sound, and not break your back moving equipment around. For this bass player this Ashdown is the ticket. If you want to get more into it, you can pair a bass preamp pedal with it and that really takes this Bass amp to another level and yet the Amp performs just fine on its own. I highly recommend this amp.

Great ultra-light bass combo

I got this to replace a vintage 15" combo amp and it's half the weight (though the cab is bigger) and twice as powerful. I host a jam night and the guest bass players all love it. It's got great low end oomph, punchy mids, and clear but not grating highs.

vintage tone monster

Used first time last night on gig and could not have been happier. Wanted to get away from the hi-fi / active bass sound and back to a more vintage/tube sound with a passive jazz bass and it nailed it. Played 160 seat room without FOH support and the amp filled the room with no problem .
