A Punchy Gretsch Short-scale Bass

With the Streamliner Jet Club single-cut bass, Gretsch puts a fun short-scale in the hands of newcomers and veteran bassists alike. Made with a nato body, nato neck, and laurel fingerboard, you’ll jet around the Streamliner Jet Club with plenty of comfort. A Slim “C” neck combined with a 30-inch scale length ensures that syncopated grooves and lines that rock the root are a breeze. Thanks to its lithe form and short-scale length, the Gretsch Streamliner Jet Club makes a fantastic first bass for kids, a superb traveling instrument, or a hardy short-scale for bassists desiring new digs. The Streamliner Jet Club is equipped with two single-coil bass pickups capable of filling the room with powerful subsonic frequencies. Finally, bassists can fine-tune their tone with the onboard volume knobs for each pickup and a master tone.

Built with Gretsch style

Sweetwater bassists concur: You’ll be the coolest musician in the room with the Gretsch Streamliner Jet Club slung across your shoulders! It starts with a nato body and bolt-on nato neck capped with a laurel fingerboard that makes for an excellent playing surface. Gretsch then outfitted this bass with player-centric components like 22 medium-jumbo frets, a Slim “C” neck, and die-cast sealed tuning machines to ensure satisfactory performance. At the far end, a 4-saddle adjustable tailpiece stands at the ready, and a bone nut seals the deal for excellent intonation. Other embellishments, including pearloid Neo-classic thumbnail inlays and knurled radio knobs, complete the scene for a bass guitar that looks and plays with massive appeal.

A dynamic duo of single-coils

With a punchy sound, player-friendly feel, and retro looks, the Streamliner Jet Club is poised for an enjoyable jam session. The secret to the Streamliner Jet Club’s massive sound is two single-coil bass pickups. Each pickup is equipped with corresponding Gretsch knurled radio volume knobs that allow bassists to toggle their sound. What’s more, a master tone knob stands at the ready to add extra sonic flavor. You'll be surprised at the powerful sonics you can draw out of this small bass!

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Gretsch do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!

Reviews

Awesome sound!
I wanted a bass that sounded really good but was still affordable. This beauty checks both of those boxes! It has a great deep plunky sound even with stock strings, however, I will be swapping them for flat wounds in the near future. If you want an affordable bass that sounds awesome, GET THIS ONE.

Gretsch Short Scale Bass
Love it. Can't wait to slap some flat wound strings on this. I've always wanted a short scale. This is so much easier for me to play.

Next to my Hofner B-Bass it is by far the easiest bass I own to play. Using La Bella flatwounds it hardly gets out of tune. The short scale makes any song much easier.
Great shortneck

I do not own one yet but have had the opportunity to play a couple of different ones on several occasions. I am not a big fan of shortnecks but love this bass. It is

very comfortable and easy to play. However, what really impressed me was the sound. It has that fat, round, old school bass sound. If you are seeking a modern tone, this is probably not it. However, if you're a classic rocker who wants a light bass that is easy to play for those long rehearsals or gigs, this bass is a great tool. I was genuinely surprised at how great the bass plays and sounds especially since it it a $ bass.

I did not experience the QC issues others have mentioned. You are buying a brand new bass for $. Personally, I would expect, at a minimum, that I would need to do a setup on the bass. Anyway, this is a great shortneck. I would have already purchased it and a Fender Aerodyne Jazz (which played like a dream), if I did not already own way more basses than I need.

Perfect No Compromise Short Scale Bass For Me
I used to play weekly with a praise and worship band, but since getting married and having kids, I only play bass a couple times a year now. My hands aren't in shape like they use to be, so I wanted to downsize to a short scale bass to relieve some of the strain on my fretting hand. I sold my Fender deluxe jazz bass 24 (on Sweetwater's Gear Exchange) and pre-ordered the Gretsch Streamliner Jet Club bass. It came in yesterday and I was noodling around with it today. The bass feels awesome, quality is on part with my old Fender deluxe jazz bass. The pickups sound great and versatile. I was able dial in everything from Jaco style staccato and harmonics from the bridge pickup, thumpy Jamerson style Motown from the neck pickup, bright slap with both pickups, and driving rock style bass using both pickups and a pick. Highly recommend this bass not just for a starter bass or for an auxiliary bass, but it can handle being your main bass.
