Spot-on Re-creation of the Iconic Guitar Jimi Played at Woodstock
By the time Jimi Hendrix took the Woodstock stage to close out the festival at 8AM on Monday, August 18, 1969, the audience had thinned out considerably. But the thousands who remained were treated to one of the longest and most renowned sets of Jimi’s career – including his epic interpretation of "The Star-Spangled Banner." The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster is a spot-on re-creation of the guitar Jimi played that morning. From its lightly relic'd Olympic White nitrocellulose lacquer finish and Custom Shop pickups to its distinctive '60s Oval "C" neck shape, Fender has meticulously reproduced the look, sound, and playing feel of this iconic guitar in exacting detail.

Spec'd with period-correct appointments
Fender's Custom Shop luthiers spec'd the Limited Edition Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster with period-correct appointments. Three Custom Shop single-coil '69 Strat pickups deliver classic Strat spank and sparkle, infused with gobs of sustain for soloing. The C-profile maple neck is capped with a vintage-spec 7.25"-radius round-lam maple fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets for a playing experience just like the original. The 6-screw American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo vibrato bridge is perfect for deploying dive-bombs and other forms of sensory expression. A 3-ply parchment pickguard, a 3-way blade pickup selector (just like the original), vintage-style tuning machines, a bone nut, vintage white control knobs, and a wing string tree complete the setup. To celebrate the historical significance of Jimi's Woodstock performance, the Limited Edition Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster comes with a commemorative booklet and Certificate of Authenticity, a custom guitar strap, and (of course) a custom headband and coiled cable!
The enduring musical legacy of Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix extended the vocabulary and range of the electric guitar into uncharted creative territory. If you ask any guitarist here at Sweetwater (and, not surprisingly, there are quite a few), many will cite Jimi as a major influence. The cultural impact of Jimi's music was monumental, extending well beyond the world of rock. "Mademoiselle Mabry," from the 1969 Miles Davis album Filles de Kilimanjaro, was a re-working of Jimi's "The Wind Cries Mary." The jazz trumpet legend had reportedly met with Jimi more than once, and it's tantalizing to think about the collaborations that might have taken place had not fate intervened. With his Woodstock concert, Jimi Hendrix blazed his way into the hearts and minds of musicians everywhere and for all time. Now, with the Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster, you can own the legend.
