A Budget-friendly 12-string Stunner

A 12-string semi-hollow like the Guild Starfire I 12-ST instantly calls to mind the jangly sounds of the ‘60s, but don’t be fooled by the Starfire’s sharp looks! This 12-string is capable of much more than your typical chimey cleans, boasting a mahogany arched center block construction and two coil-splittable Guild HB-2 pickups to cover everything from pristine arpeggios to huge distorted rhythm tones. The wide mahogany “U”-style neck and 1-11/16-inch nut width give you plenty of room to maneuver between the string courses, while the Indian rosewood board and flat 12.5-inch radius offer a smooth, comfortable playing experience. Finally, a Tune-o-matic bridge and Guild’s 15:01 tuners offer excellent tuning stability — essential when slinging a 12-string like the Guild Starfire I 12-ST!

Semi-hollow construction

A center-block, semi-hollow construction — hollow on both sides with a solid core running through the center — gives the Starfire I 12-ST classic Guild tone and response without sacrificing live playability. Together with its quality tonewoods, comfortable neck, rock-solid hardtail bridge, and daring modern electronics, the Starfire I 12-ST delivers boatloads of 12-string tone at a wallet-friendly price!

Split HB-2 humbuckers

With its HB-2 alnico humbuckers, the Guild Starfire I 12-ST serves up a wide range of multi-generational sounds — ideal for guitarists looking to tackle the legendary 12-string tones strummed throughout history. These pickups unleash fullness and sustain by the truckload, with enough PAF-style warmth to satisfy even the most discriminating tone connoisseur, and the push-pull coil-splitting is perfect for capturing '60s 12-string jangle. If you’re looking for huge rhythm tones, park the Starfire I 12-ST in front of a high-gain amp, and you’ll enjoy the beautifully rich and full sound that only a 12-string can produce.

Guild Tune-o-matic bridge

Staying in tune is always a battle on a 12-string, so Guild have outfitted the Starfire I 12-ST with a fixed Tune-o-matic bridge and matching stopbar tailpiece to maximize both tone and tuning stability. This bridge makes it easy to dial in your preferred setup, with each saddle supporting 2 separate strings for easier intonation and action adjustment.

Guild Starfire I 12-ST 12-string Electric Guitar Features:

  • Semi-hollow, double-cutaway mahogany body construction for classic looks and an airy resonance
  • Sturdy mahogany neck with a sleek rosewood fingerboard
  • 12.5-inch fingerboard radius offers incredible playability up and down the neck
  • Modernized “U”-style neck that players of all varieties will appreciate
  • HB-2 humbuckers provide a warm, full-range tone
  • Push-pull coil-splitting unlocks jangly cleans
  • Guild Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and 15:01 ratio-closed gear Guild tuners maximize sustain and tuning stability

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Great value for an electric 12 string
Just got this and I love it. Sounds great and pictures don't really show the beauty of this instrument. Tuners seem really smooth and the guitar was really close to being in tune when it arrived (considering it's a 12 string and it traveled from Indiana to Arizona I'd say that's pretty impressive). I would have liked the nut width to be a bit wider since it is a 12 string, but that will just make me more accurate with my fingers. Couldn't be happier, thanks Cody Kraus and Sweetwater!
Guild Starfire 12-string
I love this guitar! It arrived in flawless condition, set-up is perfect right out of the box! Thanks, Sweetwater! And thanks, Carson for great customer service! It will be a great companion for the '63 M-65 3/4 that Dad bought for me in 1965 (second grade!)
Guild Starfire 1 12 string
This guitar is an awesome 12 string. One of the best 12 strings for the money.Right out of the box it was pretty much set up. I did an inspection and it was flawles , just a beautiful guitar. After some fine tuning I plugged it in and started to expeirement with the split coils and I cannot believe the awesome chime. I would have 12 string showdown with this guitar. It is all Mahogany even the neck and the ballance is a little heavy on the neck side but not bad. All around great guitar and the price is incrediabely low for the quality of the craftsmanship. Well done... Just my humble and honest oppinion

fantastic guitar
I just received my new Guild Starfire 12-string yesterday. I've been playing all day today. I must say that is a fantastic guitar. It far exceeded my expectations. It's beautifully made. Good, solid construction. Deep, rich finish. Overall appearance is pretty stunning. A joy to play. Great, low action and very true neck and fretboard. Best of all are the unbelievable tonal possibilities. I've tried it through a few different amps, with and without pedals, and it just sounds great. This is a guitar I truly recommend. Really. Thank you Andy Rice for your help.

Womderful guitar
This is a superb guitar for the money, extremely well-made. The electronics are outstanding and produce a great variety of tones. On a 12-string, I would prefer a greater nut width, but this seems to be a problem with most electric 12s.
Music background: A nightingale singing to himself in the wilderness.
