A Complete Rhodes Rig Modeled to Perfection
When the physical modeling gurus at Arturia decided to capture the sound of the Rhodes electric piano in its prime, they absolutely nailed it with the Stage-73 V electric piano virtual instrument. Stage-73 V captures three classic mid-'70s Rhodes models in stunning detail, but that's just the beginning. You can go under the hood to tweak parameters such as hammer hardness, tone bar resonance, and pickup alignment, offering a custom shop worth of mods. Of course, it wouldn't be authentic Rhodes sound without the popular vintage guitar amp to go with it, so Arturia modeled that too, along with a collection of classic stompbox effects. For anyone who loves classic EPs, the Stage-73 V is a total no-brainer.

If you want your favorite Rhodes EP rendered with jaw-dropping realism, you need Arturia Stage-73 V. The mid '70s was an exciting time in the development of Harold Rhodes's electric piano, which underwent several format and function changes, all of which Arturia captured perfectly. In fact, this soft synth includes both the '73 and the '74 73-note Stage Piano plus the older '73 Suitcase Piano model. Each model includes slightly different controls. While the '73 Stage featured a multiband tone control that cut highs and boosted the lows, the '74 replaced it with a "Bass Boost" knob that only affected low frequencies. Then there's the Suitcase Piano, which offers separate Treble and Ball sliders plus onboard "vibrato," a stereo tremolo effect with Speed and Intensity controls.
Dive under the hood to access advanced physical modelingOne of the best things about physical modeling (as opposed to sample-based virtual instruments) is that you can alter the character of individual components to create an extended range of tones because all of the sound generation is the result of component emulation. In the case of the Stage-73 V, Arturia gives you access to parameters including tone bar resonance, pickup alignment, hammer hardness, and many other settings you couldn't tweak in a real Rhodes without a lot of tools, time, and mechanical expertise. What's more, you can alter the harmonic profile, adjust the velocity curve, and set the overall dynamic range with ease.
Vintage amp and killer stompbox effects models includedIn the classic Arturia fashion the synth nuts here at Sweetwater love, simply providing a spot-on virtual instrument rendition of a classic Rhodes electric piano wasn't enough. Not only did they model the speakers in the original Suitcase Piano, they also included a dead-accurate model of the Twin amplifier popularly paired with mid-'70s Rhodes keyboards. There's plenty of gain onboard, plus the sweet vibrato and spring reverb these amps were known for. Better yet, you get a collection of vintage stompbox emulations to top off your tone, so if you want flanging, auto wah, analog-style delay, or other great effects, you're totally set.
