Packed with Pro-grade Enhancements and Additional Instruments
Recorded at AIR Studio 1, Spitfire Audio’s Studio Woodwinds Professional is designed to offer composers and producers a drier and more defined woodwind option compared to its popular Lyndhurst Hall plug-ins. This library comprises 15 virtual instruments (both solo and section) with a veritable encyclopedia of 143 articulations, covering everything from orchestral standards to more esoteric techniques like multitongue, air/key effects, staccatissimo, and vibrant swells. Each instrument was recorded using world-class microphones by Grammy-winning engineer Simon Rhodes in AIR Studio 1, with this professional-grade version granting custom control over your sound via two ready-made mic mixes, two close-mic arrangements, dual Decca Tree setups, ambients, and outriggers. Moreover, by recording these samples in the naturally dry and crisp-sounding Studio 1 (as opposed to the lush ambience of Lyndhurst Hall), this library offers superior versatility for a variety of musical applications. It’s all finished off with a built-in pattern sequencer for rhythmic ostinato effects and an intuitive graphic user interface.

Samples captured by esteemed engineer Simon Rhodes
To achieve the most detailed and inspiring samples possible, Spitfire Audio recruited Simon Rhodes — a 4-time Grammy winner and senior engineer at the one and only Abbey Road Studios. The instruments were captured using a superlative set of Neumann, Sennheiser, and Schoeps microphones in various configurations. Furthermore, the Professional version of Studio Woodwinds allows you to mix and match mics using the intuitive microphone mixing tool, although Sweetwater’s producers find that falling back on Simon’s mix of microphones is always a sure bet!

Recorded at AIR Studio 1
While scores of Spitfire’s orchestral plug-ins leverage the exquisite ambience and colorful vibe of AIR Studios’ legendary Lyndhurst Hall, producers who prefer to modify their samples with effects may prefer more neutral-sounding samples. For this reason, Spitfire Audio opted to record the Studio Woodwinds collection in AIR Studio 1 — a drier and more controllable space than Lyndhurst Hall. The result is a supremely versatile assortment of woodwind samples that boast impeccable detail, exceptional definition, and the ability to seamlessly meld with your favorite reverb and effects plug-ins.
