Vibrant Mouthpiece for Solo and Lead Players

Since 1956, Schilke Music Products has met the needs of trumpeters, trombonists, and other brass players the world over, thanks to its innovative designs and impeccable quality. More than half a century since the company's inception, the Schilke 13A4a Trumpet Mouthpiece continues this tradition with exceptional results. Its shallow-depth cup and semi-flat rim contour are perfect in lead and solo playing situations, producing a clean-cutting brightness with lush overtones and a comfortable mouthfeel that greatly supports upper-register playing. Even better is the 13A4a's tighter backbore, which increases the instrument's brilliance while offering greater control over your playing. Schilke Trumpet Mouthpieces are found in the instrument cases of many of today's finest performers — add one to your collection and experience the Schilke difference firsthand!

Schilke Music Products: a heritage of top-notch instruments and accessories

The brainchild of former Chicago Symphony principal trumpet player Renold O. Schilke, Schilke Music Products quickly rose to prominence in the classical brass industry. Worldwide recognition ensued due to the impeccable quality of Schilke's instruments and accessories, so much so that Renold himself was tapped by Yamaha as a consultant to introduce a new line of brass instruments to the United States. While the Schilke family no longer manages the company, Schilke Music Products instruments and accessories are still manufactured to the highest quality. Their products have been utilized at some point or another by trumpet legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, John Madrid, and Jon Faddis. Now's the time to join the ranks of these performers and so many more — call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer today to purchase your Schilke mouthpieces!

Reviews

My competition stage band secret weapon, for music where everything is written way up on ledger lines.
These are fabulous mouthpieces for hitting those old Doc Severinsen high notes with clarity and without a lot of effort, however you really need to let the horn hang loose and relax to play around middle C and low B and those may still sound a little airy, but I don't recall anything below F1 and from your are good to go up to crazy high notes. The trumpet was my ace in the hole for military service, especially since I was first chair soloist. After seeing The Fall of Saigon on TV, I wanted two things to fall back on just in case that selective service draft card ever became an issue. I had a pretty good stable of guitars and bass guitars who's owners came back from Vietnam in body bags, so I kept my brass chops up, knowing a good horn player would likely be put into a fulltime military band, and my other option was very strong aptitude in the SATs for Physics and Chemistry, so if I couldn't play music, I'd go into some kind of nuclear program, chemical or biological warfare program where you just play with the stuff but NEVER go out and use it. The Schilke 13A4A was like a magic mouthpiece for jazz and if I had play lower parts there were other mouthpieces with deeper cups and longer wider lead pipes, with different tapers that were good for the harmonies of music like The Canadian Brass. The Schilke 13A4A was a MUST HAVE MOUTHPIECE! Herb Alpert songs were a joy to play using it. I'd play Lonely Bull outdoors at night and the neighborhood Latinos would all kiey yiee yiee yi in approval. if you need to play like a pro, and impress, this mouthpiece sure helped me out an awful lot. Next to a 7C it was like a Ferrari and the 7C was like a Ford Fairlane sedan. Articulation was exceptionally good, slurring was great, pulling pitch was not bad either. If you could play, all I can say of this mouthpiece was that it sure added a lot of style to my playing, and in a very tastefully good way. I won't be without a 13A4A.
