I received this at Christmas and wrote a negative review. It just wasn't performing properly. I talked to a tech at Sweetwater and they agreed to send a replacement so I could see if it was me or the pedal. It was a defective pedal. I kept the new one and returned the defective one. The sound is exactly what I want and has subtle variations depending on whether I tap it or stomp on it. I rated it 5 star. Thanks for your help, Sweetwater.

I had looked into the farmer brand foot bass drum or even suitcase with drum pedal idea in the past, because I love the way Jordan Cook(of Reignwolf) does his solo act with foot drum, but I never bought anything since I was busy in a band at the time..
now that I am not in a band I attend a small acoustic based jam with some guys, but the guy who plays hand drum cant always make it, so I researched and found this..
since I play standing and play electric guitar I wanted a real foot drum sound, without needing a drum machine or the acoustic player style woodbox stompbox...for the jam I just use a Cube Street amp and since it has two inputs I put the drum into the clean channel and it sounds good to me. I havent tried my bigger amp and I found that if you run it into a non clean channel it obviously affects the sound, so I am sure you can make some interesting sounds if that your thing..if you just want that foot drum thump then this works great by itself in clean amp..

I am glad I did find this because it does sound pretty close to standard bass foot drum(it uses digital sound sample which is fine for me). I got to use it recently for the aforementioned jam and it is sleek and small enough to easily fit my gig bag and the height and angle was not bad to use while standing. I naturally tap my foot a lot when playing so this stompbox wasnt too tough to adapt tO and it worked great for the jam..
On more complex songs or parts I would just drop my guitar and hold beat for others.

the thump effect volume is affected by how hard you stomp. The button thing on top is NOT an actual push down/up thing. It is solid and doesnt depress so it must just have a impact sensor under it. It is sensitive enough that I didnt have to tap too hard for decent volume, tho you can adjust amp volume if you have light tap..
As I mentioned before I love how Reighnwolf uses a footdrum when solo, in that he doesnt just hold a ongoing beat thru his whole song but just accents his song at times, which was my inspiration for this. This stomp box is even better then I could have hoped for since I dont think this one existed back in 2010 when I was considering a bulky actual bass foot drum.. I am so glad I didnt buy anything years ago since this is everything I wanted in small sleek package..overall, so far, this thing is awesome and I am super happy. It takes 2 AA batterys but im sure they last a long time.
I can add an update as I use it more.

This is the best stomp box I have had. Consistent and sensitive to tap. Makes a huge difference during a show. Best for solo artists. But beware it wears easily.

This is my first time using a foot percussion stomp box and as long as I keep my pressure steady, the beat is strong and solid. I plug it into my Fishman Loudbox and I can EQ it to make a super rich sound. I'm delighted with this purchase. Wearing the right kind of shoes makes all the difference.
