A Bass for the Seasoned Musician

The Ibanez Bass Workshop SRMS800 is built from an exciting blend of tonewoods. A poplar-burl-topped walnut/mahogany body delivers a warm, earthy tone with a round bottom and bright top end. A 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck makes a fine tonal complement, while supplying excellent comfort and stability. The SRMS800's multi-scale fingerboard offers optimal tension and playability. Experience superior intonation and vibration transference, thanks to a Mono-Rail VS bridge. A duo of Bartolini BH2 dual-coil pickups yields incredible depth and clarity, a 3-band EQ allows for further sonic sculpting, and a 3-way midrange switch rounds out the SRMS800's controls. To top it all off, the Bass Workshop SRMS800 features black matte hardware for a sleek, eye-catching look.

Better comfort, tension, and tone thanks to multi-scale frets

Multi-scale frets are an exciting new trend in high-end bass guitar design. They yield a longer scale on the bass side of the instrument and a shorter scale on the treble side, offering you better intonation and more consistent tension and attack from string to string. And while getting used to them may look like it will be quite an undertaking, Sweetwater bassists insist that it's a very natural transition. And the better intonation, consistent string tension, and more open tone far outweigh any difference from other basses.

Bartolini BH2 pickups deliver full and balanced tone

Bartolini BH2 pickups maintain a superb balance between the Bass Workshop SRMS800's clarity and depth. They provide complexity and warmth in the mids and low-end depth that won't wash out. Long-blade pole pieces allow these dual-coil pickups to offer hum-free single-coil-style character and consistency. When you want to sculpt your SRMS800's tone, just reach for the 3-band EQ. This active equalizer delivers wide frequency-range adjustments on each band. There's also a 3-way midrange switch that lets you define your instrument's presence. Whether you want round R&B throb or responsive thumb-technique punch, the SRMS800 delivers.

Mono-Rail VS bridge for ultimate string isolation

The Mono-Rail VS bridge installed on the Bass Workshop SRMS800 solves the issue of too much string cross-talk some other basses struggle with. When you play a string, sympathetic vibrations can set the other strings into motion. But by separating the bridge into five independent "mini bridges," the Mono-Rail VS maximizes vibration transfer without interference from the other strings. Ibanez goes so far as to call the Mono-Rail VS, "the ultimate bridge for bass string isolation." Each bridge is independently and securely locked down to the body for maximum vibration transfer without interference.

Ibanez Bass Workshop SRMS800 Features:

  • Poplar-burl-topped walnut/mahogany body delivers a warm, earthy tone with a round bottom and bright top end
  • 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck makes a fine tonal complement and supplies excellent comfort and stability
  • Multi-scale fingerboard offers optimal tension and playability
  • Mono-Rail VS bridge ensures complete string isolation and maximum sustain per string
  • Bartolini BH2 dual-coil pickups deliver clear and open mids with deep and punchy lows
  • Shape your tone with an active 3-band EQ, complete with 3-way midrange switch for added versatility
  • Eye-catching black matte hardware

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Unreal looks AND sound!!!
This bass is not only gorgeous, she sound cool freaking good I'm blown away! Quality of this guitar is unparalleled... ESPECIALLY at this price point!!! If ur in the market for a bass its worth every penny...if not more ...love this thing
BEST BASS I HAVE EVER OWNED!!!
I absolutely LOVE this bass!!! Nicest instrument i have ever owned. The neck feels amazing. Really smooth with no gloss type finish on it. I can move up and down the neck with ease and speed. The finish on the body is gorgeous as well, and that panga panga fretboard looks and feels amazing. When i picked out this bass i didnt really care about the multi-scale aspect, i was indifferent to it, but after playing it, idk if i could ever go back to a normal scale. The multi-scale adds tightness and balance in tone and feel to every string. The electronics sound amazing too. So much clarity and detail in ever nuance of my playing. I love how its passive pickups with an active preamp that you can bypass. So much tonal territory this beast offers. From mellow motown type thumps to aggressive snappy attacks and everything in between. The preamp is really quiet when it comes to noise even when dialed all the way up on whatever frequency band, and every position on any knob is very usable. I am more than happy with this beauty, and if u are on the fence with getting this bass then look no further, u will not be disappointed. For me, this bass is the endgame of my bass journey. I dont need any other bass. And huge thanks to Sweetwater and Clint Bransteter. I reserved this bass almost 2 months in advanced before it came back in stock, and when it did come back in stock they were able to hold it for me for another 2 weeks until i could afford it. Sweetwater is the best and has the best customer service ever!
Absolutely Great Bass
I have owned a lot of basses, many which were fairly high-end, but I was never quite satisfied with something about them whether it was the sound or the playability. Having owned and played this one for a few months now I can say that this is exactly the sound I have been looking for and the playability that has always been elusive. It is very comfortable and easy to play well and the multi-scale for me took zero time to get used to. Every time I play it I am amazed at how great it plays and I'm sure some of it has to do with how well it is setup as the action is low and effortless. I love the Stratocaster-style jack as a bonus and the bridge and rest of the hardware is top notch. It is also the lightest bass I have ever owned which will be great in long stand-up gigs. I would recommend this bass in a heartbeat.

SRMS800 - Great value for a modern bass!
If you are the slightest bit curious about multi-scale instruments with the ergonomically slanted frets...do yourself a favor and give this bass a try, you won't regret it.

Sweetwater set up mine, with a new graphite nut and tuned down to C Standard -- I am absolutely loving this thing!
Great Bass
This bass played perfectly right out of the box. I had Sweetwater do a Pro-set up and install a "bone" nut. M. Vela did a fantastic job and I am more than impressed. Thank you Keith and Mr. Vela.
Music background: 50+ years playing.
