What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Fantastic Subwoofer

I had a friend that owned a peavey Sp218. I was blown away by how much power that thing had. So when I was getting into building my own set up I wanted to stay with what i knew. I found the sp118 and though that it might be a good idea to buy 2 of these eventually and have balanced sound on both sides of the rig. I'm extremely glad I made that choice! One of these by itself has tons of bass. I run this with a behringer inuke nu6000 amplifier, and a behringer b115d loud speaker. I run the output from the loud speaker to the amp, then run the amp to the sub, and it balances perfectly. Just bought my 2nd one a week ago and can't wait to get it into action. Highly recommend this subwoofer.

Good once you dial in the HP

My first time using these(bought two and a Nx6000)I didn't like the sound that was coming out, the drummer playing the kick sounded decent but when I tried to add more kick it started popping I thought it was waste. Until I messed around with my DBX rack and found the right tuning for the subs
Low cut-50hz at 12dB
High cut- 195hz at 12dB
I then played another gig, rolled it out and tried it again, it was the best punch I've ever had coming out, it was loud, shaking like it's supposed to, I plan on getting two more and put them in the middle of the speaker to push more, I recommend

Dont Beat Up On Them

The more I know how a speaker is engineered is a good indication that I have been inside way too many times to count. Purchased from a nightmare unmentionable "make your own price" site. After 45 days resolved to run away. Little cards on handles proudly displaying "MADE IN USA". Rated for 350 continuous! Proceed to make thump and that will cost... and your labor to install because they go quick.

I must have learned my lesson 5 times. When these things let go, the voice coil practically explodes. Many moons ago i fell in love with the twin 18 JBL's... but not in the budget at the time (almost 4 times the cost of what I paid for the 118's) Speaker problems were bubbles on voice coil rubbing on center pole grounding out and making a blown kind of weird sound. And the outright blown up sir.

I "assumed" the cabinets were hardwood, but boy was I wrong. Left the subs in the minivan overnight. The one windows was cracked about an inch and it rained. Now the coating was still good to go but somehow that moisture got under the coating and swelled 1 inch bubble. The only other time I saw this was particle board. "POP!" went another sub and while I was in there replacing it, peeled back the fiberfill and my jaw dropped. The best I can say is some sort of sprayed resin wood combination. . Had a yellowish tint to it. Now these things are NOT light. Don't have the specs in front of me but near 130lbs.

I believe these were some of the last made in USA's. So yeah.... I'm stuck with these temperamental trailer queen dinosaurs that go no where near the 35hz they say they do. And s... right in your eye if you dare to force a reshape on the curves. Peavey has been a big disappointment with me.
