Rock-solid Wireless Performance

The SLXD14/85, from Shure, is a complete digital wireless system intended for speaking applications. This system ships to your door with the Shure WL185 Lavalier Microphone, SLXD1 Digital Bodypack Transmitter, and SLXD4 Digital Wireless Receiver. Shure's cutting-edge digital wireless technology delivers 24-bit audio resolution with an almost imperceptible 3.2ms of latency. Add in the working range of 100 meters (328 feet), and you've got a recipe for serious wireless potential. If you're ready to take the plunge and give your system a much-needed upgrade, you can't go wrong with a Shure SLX-D wireless setup.

The sound you know without the dropouts

Shure's been at the forefront of the wireless movement for more than three decades. Over the years, Shure's learned a thing or two about providing reliable signal and is pleased to report that SLX-D experiences fewer dropouts than ever before. Here at Sweetwater, we chalk the impressive performance up to the sheer transmission strength and the natural resistance to RF interference. One thing's for sure; you can trust SLX-D to deliver a clear and rock-solid signal night after night.

Get heard loud and clear

One of the chief advantages of using the SLX-D series is the immense dynamic range. Since Shure SLX-D systems transmit digitally, you can use its entire dynamic range without worrying about the effects of companding and compression. And thanks to its 120dB dynamic range, your system will be able to handle whisper-quiet performers and rock bands alike. No matter what performers are onstage, SLX-D makes sure that they're heard loud and clear.

Ready to go the distance

Shure's SLX-D systems are versatile and expandable to fit the needs of any venue. Single-channel and dual-channel receivers and vocal, guitar, headset, and lavalier options let you choose the setup that's right for you. Once you get everything you need, getting set up is a breeze. One-touch synchronization and IR scan make pairing a transmitter and receiver a walk in the park. With a pair of AA batteries, Shure's SLX-D transmitters provide up to eight hours of non-stop operation that's perfectly suited for conferences, extended performances, and Sunday mornings.

The toggle switch

I wanted to give an alternative review regarding the toggle switch/ lack of mute switch. I upgraded our church from the analog ULXS line (which also doesn't have a mute switch, uses the same toggle switch) to SLXD last summer and so far there hasn't been a single issue. Both pastors have had no issues with using the power toggle switch to mute and unmute themselves. There has never been an event, neither with the ULXS bodypack nor the SLXD bodypack, where the toggle switch was accidentally switched off. It is recessed just enough to give it protection, firm enough to hold its position, soft enough to be easily switched.

Also, on menus, it's not hard. I figured it out first try without using the manual. Just about every digital piece of gear today has a menu, and as long as it is intuitive, it's fine. It's a great economical way to expand feature sets.

Love it!

I had a speaker I needed to record on a Saturday and the mic arrived on Wednesday. It didn't leave much time to play with it and get to know it but it was really simple to use and I captured the speech, no problem, it sounded great!

Love’in every minute of it

I have been a Shure fan for along time. I have been in the live production scene for well over 15 years. Worked with line 6, sennhiesers, akg, etc, etc, the Shure systems in my experience have been the most reliable in almost every situation I have been in! Recently I became the Director of AV for a large Church in Florida and I was able to sample the Shure slxd's with the Beta 87A heads and this new digital system is Amazing the clarity and quality of sound is unmatched. And the sleek design of both the hand helds and body packs is simply great. The operation and syncing of frequency's was super simple. And the range I get from just the 1/4 wave antenna with out external amplifiers or paddles was well Over 150ft away Uninterrupted. For the price this is a no brainer! I hope this helps.

Horrible Design - Horrible Support from Shure

I purchased this for a customer who was wanting an upgrade path from their current SLX system. I was excited to find something in the Shure line that would give them better performance but still allow them to use their Countryman mics.
The system arrived and I was immediately struck by the fact that the body pack had no mute switch. Too, Shure has migrated to a toggle on/off switch for the body pack. Yeah... a toggle switch.. and one that has very little resistance. It would be so simple for on-camera or live talent to accidentally switch this unit off that I never even unwrapped it. I would NEVER trust this design in a professional situation.
When I went back to my Sweetwater rep (who is awesome BTW) to ask about the lack of a mute functionality I was informed that I could buy an inline mute switch... and you guessed it, it's a toggle switch.
Shure responded to my inquiry on the matter that you can delve into the menu and lock the unit on. Just what I want... a trip through some convoluted menu system to get basic functionality that THE ORIGINAL SLX SYSTEM HAS WITH ONE SIMPLE BUTTON!
The fact that Shure has decided to nickel and dime their customers to get something as simple as a mute button speaks volumes about how they feel about their customer base. What a joke. If I could migrate my customers away from Shure wireless systems I gladly would.
