The Darker Side of the SLS Elite

The SLS Evil Twin-4 is your chance to explore the darker side of Schecter's SLS Elite bass series. Specs are virtually identical between these two great axes, save for the Evil Twin's 100% swamp ash body. What sets it apart are a killer black-on-black satin finish, sinister roman numeral fingerboard inlays, and glow-in-the-dark side fret markers for easy ID'ing on dark stages. Naturally, the Evil Twin slays for rock and metal. But with its Fishman Fluence active soapbar pickups with 3-way voicing switch, push-pull coil splitting, and 2-band active EQ, this bass will surprise you with its pop sensibilities and funk and soul potential. Schecter's neck-through sculpted body and string-through bridge maximize resonance and sustain. Meanwhile, a permanently lubricated TUSQ XL nut, a set of studio-stable Grover tuners, and a dual-action truss rod with easy-access neck heel wheel make the Schecter SLS Evil Twin-4 from Sweetwater a bass that wants for nothing in terms of customization.

Sculpted swamp ash body

The SLS Evil Twin-4's sculpted swamp ash body is equal parts form and fashion, comfortably hugging the player's body when seated or standing and providing unparalleled access to higher frets. A satin black finish gives this bass a menacing stage presence indeed.

3-piece neck with XJ steel frets

Built for a lifetime of use and abuse, the Schecter SLS Evil Twin-4 features a 3-piece neck of maple, walnut, and padauk to resist warping and action creep over time. Its articulate ebony fingerboard comes fitted with 24 effortless Extra-jumbo stainless steel frets that are spec'd for tour-grade resiliency.

Active Fishman Fluence pickups

The Fluence active pickups have been a real game changer in terms of tone, output, noise, and clarity. The SLS Evil Twin-4's Fluence active soapbars feature both a 3-way voicing switch (classic, funk, and modern) and push-pull coil splitting to stand up to virtually any style of music. Factor in a 2-band active EQ section (bass and treble) and a dedicated pickup blend knob, and the SLS Evil Twin-4 may replace many or all other basses in your arsenal.

Schecter SLS Evil Twin-4 Bass Guitar Features:

  • The darker side of the SLS Elite bass series
  • Ivory-bound 100% swamp ash body sports a menacing satin black finish
  • Roman numeral fingerboard inlays
  • Glow-in-the-dark side fret markers
  • 9-volt active Fishman Fluence soapbar pickups provide 3 distinct voices: classic, funk, and modern
  • Push-pull coil splitting, active 2-band EQ, and pickup blend control equip this bass for any style
  • Liquid sculpture neck-through design is comfortably contoured and sustains for days
  • Strong 3-piece maple/walnut/padauk neck with articulate ebony fingerboard
  • Extra-jumbo stainless steel frets are spec'd for a lifetime of use and abuse
  • Permanently lubricated, Teflon-impregnated TUSQ XL nut eliminates string stickage
  • Dual-action truss rod with convenient neck heel access wheel
  • Grover tuners are studio precise and stage stable

Trifecta of great feel, great looks and great sound!

I've had my Evil Twin for about a month now, and I'm loving everything about it. I currently play in a cover band, so the 3-way voicing switch along with the coil-splitter and pickup blend provide a very handy and versatile range of tones. Service from Sweetwater has been first-rate!

Sweet Bass

I've been playing Bass for 35 plus years. I play live on a regular basis and realized recently that I don't have a decent back up Bass to my Main Bass . I decided to try a Schecter and I am not disappointed. I'm currently in a cover band so I need versatility in tone since I cover songs where I use a pick, fingers and slap. This Bass Handles them all with minor tweaks to the hi/low eq which I can do on the fly. If your looking for a solid great sounding smooth playing Bass that won't break your wallet then check out a Schecter you won't be disappointed. And as always Sweetwater made sure I had what I needed and got it to me promptly. Oh almost forgot , this Bass is perfectly balanced . I can take both hands off and it doesn't move at all.

Outstanding Value & Luscious Playability

A few weeks isn't long enough to truly know the ins and outs of an instrument, and it could be awhile before I've gotten a chance to play this instrument live, but my first impressions are extremely positive. The bass is no heavier than my Les Paul Standard, and lighter than other basses I've owned, but its weight balance means that its body is still heavy enough to prevent neck dive. It feels comfortable to play, whether I'm playing with fingers or going McCartney-style and using a pick. The Fishman pickups are outstandingly responsive—as good as anything else I own.

Over the years, I've purchased several instruments not made in either Europe or North America, and they've been almost universally disappointing. This is the first time I can say that this isn't the case, and I've now heard from many other professionals who are saying the same thing: these days, at their higher price points, South Korea is making instruments as well as anyone else in the world.

The quality on this bass would have, if produced in Western Europe or North American, cost easily twice the price. What's more, the SLS series looks better than many of the more expensive basses. For me to buy something North American that I would have liked as well, I'd have had to spend more than $4,000, which just wasn't in the budget. The finish on mine is gorgeous, and my guess is that it's going to wear well over time. The details are lovely: The raised emblem on the headstock, the banded wood pattern through the neck and body, the trim and visual contrasts—all details that most observers will never notice, but that as the musician I appreciate.

The inlays are beautiful. I feared the fret markers, which are glow-in-the-dark, would be chintzy. Not so—they're limned in black and subtle, noticeable only by me, and only in truly dark conditions. Some online descriptions of the fretboard inlays, the Roman numerals, say that they glow in the dark; nope, they don't, thank God.

This is a gorgeous instrument that plays gorgeously. If you're seriously considering it, then do yourself a favor and hit "purchase."

Get One

I've owned mine for about a year now. You are getting A LOT for your money. The Fluence pickups weren't a household word when this guitar came out. They are extremely versatile. The bass is light, well-balanced and I love the thin neck. Fit and finish are spot on. A great bass. ...I can promise you there's nothing in that price range that's a better value than this one... Strong Buy.

Evil Twin

I knew I would love this base before trying based on how much I liked my stiletto but my expectations were exceeded with the Evil Twin. It's appearance, playability & performance are top tier and fitting to my preferences. I've only had it for several days now but am looking forward to bringing this into full band practices and shows as soon as possible.
