Stellar Bass Cab from Aguilar

The SL 212 from Aguilar offers an incredible balance of performance and size. This 4-ohm cabinet weighs in at a mere 45 lbs., so you can lug it from gig to gig without breaking your back. With neodymium drivers and phenolic tweeters, it produces a frequency response of 37Hz–16kHz with 500 watts RMS, putting out deep lows; crisp, fully rounded midrange; and smooth treble. And, the SL 212 boasts a stellar tonal profile fit for any bass style and suitable for small and medium venues alike. Bassists at Sweetwater love the Aguilar SL 212 for its convenient size, sturdy build, and fantastic sound.

The power and reduced weight of neodymium

The weight-saving properties and powerful midrange response of neodymium magnets give the SL 212 a full sound and the cab a reduced total weight (just 45 lbs.) at no cost in performance. The all-wood 12mm cabinet brings out the rumbling lows and tight mid-range punch of the driver, while the onboard phenolic tweeter with integral phase plug adds clarity, attack, and upper harmonics to your tone.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

AGUILAR SL 212
Huge difference between the SL115 which I hought at first. The variable horn makes a unbelievable difference in sound. I use the Hammer Tone 500.
Highly Recommend.

Aguilar legacy
I have owned Aguilar gear for well over two decades, the remnants of that accumulation is the heavy, gorgeous DB359 all tube head unit.
Now with this 212 cab with 4 ohm impedance, I can have this head SCREAM through it with a tight, crisp and solid bottom
End.
Even though Aguilar is now a Korg acquisition, it is still faithful to the wholeness and superb tone quality and performance that has been always the best in the bass amp market. Period.
Wow!
I just got this last week and played my first gig with it last night. We played a venue the size of 2-3 basketball gyms with 400-500 people present. My bandmates could tell a huge difference in the sound. It was clean and penetrating. Those 2 twelves add just a little more punch, but with amazing clarity. Add to that, it is amazingly light to carry which is important to me since I'm 70 years old playing 60-70 times a year. I've played through Hartkes, Gallien-Kruegers, Peaveys, Kustoms, and Ampegs. This is easily the best sound I've ever had.
So far So good
I wondered if I had made the right decision as this cabinet is not cheap. I also took a leap of faith with 12" speakers instead of the customary 10's I had always used. So far this cabinet has exceeded my expectations. It's low end is full and the fundamental is tight with a nice room filling bloom with My Modulus Q 6 and Roscoe SKB 5. Both those basses sound better than ever through this cabinet coupled with my also newly acquired AG 700. I worried about the cabinet specs of 500 watts but I think Aguilar cabs in general are conservatively rated. I don't turn up to even half way on gain or volume (12:00) and that is with a heavy handed drummer. It's light for it's size but it's still 45 lbs. If it were much heavier i would have had to buy two SL 112's. The recessed handles are much better here than the attacked handle of the SL 112. You don't knuckle bust going through tight doorways. I highly recommend the AG 700 paired with this cab they really work in harmony. You can save money buying this single 212 SL over two 112's and two covers.
Sl212
Great cabinet plenty loud and punchy, with solid low end.Yet different sounding than DB seriesi it still packs that great Aguilar tone and quality craftsmanship, and it is crazy lightweight.
