Limited-edition Model of an Iconic Short-scale Bass

Grab your Starfire I Limited-edition Bass Guitar from Sweetwater while we still have them. This punchy short-scale bass captures eyes and ears with its blissful grooves and classic '60s character. A mix of Starfire semi-hollow construction and BC-1 BiCoil pickups contribute to the organic, resonant sonics and chunky low-end grind found within this rad bass. Thanks to a 30.75-inch scale length, the Starfire I Limited Edition finds a comfortable place in the hands of young players while opening up new frontiers of playability for long-scale bass players. Its Thin-"U" profile mahogany neck urges you to explore its Indian Rosewood fretboard and incorporate unconventional bass techniques into your playing, such as chording, bends, and feverish runs. Part vintage, part contemporary, yet completely timeless: that’s the Guild Starfire I Limited Edition!

Exceptionally playable short-scale neck

The short (30.75-inch) scale length of the Starfire I Limited Edition bass makes it easier to navigate the fretboard. It's perfect for beginners and players with smaller hands, but anyone can enjoy this eminently playable semi-hollow bass. The short-scale length lets you comfortably play anywhere on the smooth, beautiful rosewood fingerboard. Just plug the Starfire I bass into your bass amp, and you'll see what we mean.

Thinline semi-hollowbody for comfortable playing and rich tone

Try as you may, you just can't get the same vibrant, overtone-rich sound of a hollowbody bass with a traditional solidbody. Instead of giving you a bulky instrument, Guild gave the Starfire I a thinline body style that provides the woody thump of a hollow instrument, plus the easy-playing comfort of a traditional bass. In short, the Guild Starfire I has all the tones and playability you want in a bass.

Based on the classic '60s Starfire

Classic rock recordings have no shortage of warm and groovy bass tones served up by hollowbody instruments. Bands like The Byrds and Jefferson Airplane relied on the original Starfire bass for their rhythmic foundation. With the Guild Starfire I semi-hollowbody bass, you can get that vibe, too.

Guild Starfire I Semi-hollowbody Bass Guitar Features:

  • Limited-edition thinline semi-hollowbody based on the '60s Guild Starfire
  • BC-1 BiCoil pickups with Alnico V magnets serve up a modern tone
  • Short-scale neck for comfortable access to all frets and chord positions
  • Exceptional tone and looks from laminated maple back, sides, and top
  • Mahogany with Thin-"U" neck profile for comfortable playability
  • Guild vintage-style tuners give you excellent tuning stability

Amazing Bass! Amazing Set Up!

Pulled the bass out of the box and went straight to a gig. I have never had a bass shipped with such a perfect set up. Well done Sweetwater team! (Shoutout to Noah and Eric!). I like a big thumpy tone and this thing delivers with clarity. Light weight, well balanced,... and the Pelham Blue is awesome too.

Starfire is a surefire winner!

Amazing bass!!! I needed something a little lighter as the weight of my Elite Jazz is starting to wear my shoulder out on long gigs but I wanted the same playability as the Fender. This beauty caught my eye under the used/demo sale so I started doing some research and then pulled the trigger. Got it two days before a gig, perfectly setup by the wizards at Sweetwater and decided to play it out that weekend. Got a lot of great compliments on the sound and the sound engineers were impressed that this was a semi-hollowbody as they don't fill out the room as much as this one did. I play with very minimal compression and the tone was rolled of the whole night. The guys in the band liked how much punch was coming through with the round wounds as I normally play with flats and didn't have the time to replace them before showtime. So I may keep those on but every review I've read says to play this bass with flats. The reason for the half star is that there is some neck dive to this guitar that I wasn't used to and I kept fighting the position of the bass the majority of the evening. To remedy that I purchased some Hipshot ultralights (USA version) and the neck dive is gone. Also being a hollowbody there was sometimes some hum as I wear a wireless IEM pack placed right under the jack input on my belt but wasn't too distracting and only really heard at low volumes. Again, amazing bass, beautiful contours, great tone and most importantly at this stage of my life a lot less weight!!! Went from 10 pounds of awesomeness to 6 3/4 pounds of awesomeness!!!
Music background: Hobbyist - regular monthly gigging.
