Captured in Berlin’s Legendary Hansa Tonstudio

Berlin’s legendary Hansa Tonstudio birthed countless classic albums by countless classic artists, including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode, U2, R.E.M. — the list goes on and on. Toontrack’s The Rooms of Hansa SDX was recorded at this legendary studio, produced by Grammy-winning engineer Michael Ilbert. This SDX expansion includes six complete kits, plus a bevy of optional configurations. The Rooms of Hansa boasts four individual room configurations, including the iconic Meistersaal, which was captured in 5.1 surround with two additional height/ambience microphone pairs. You also get stereo ambience obtained from the famous Hansa staircase — one of the vibiest reverb chambers in existence. Like this one the best so far, sits in the mix well, marble room is unbelievable. I've tried Fields of Rock, State of the Art, Jazz and Decades SDX.

Toontrack Rules
I love how Toontrack has taken drum software to the next level! Every SD3 & EZ expansion I own blows me away, especially the SD3 expansions. I have been playing electronic drums for years and wish I had discovered Toontrack when I first started. By now I would have the software knowledge down pretty good. I love how Toontrack teams up with actual world renowned recording engineers and famous recording studios. The way they sample real brand name drums, cymbals and percussion instruments with real brand name industry standard and high end mics is incredible to me. All the different mic positions to create different ambient sound, I mean who does that for drum software, TOONTRACK DOES! It is a learning curve with so many ways to edit your drums and sound with what seems like endless ways to change rooms, mics and mixing different drums from different kits. It's mind blowing but well worth spending the time to learn. You have everything you need including an on board mixer, effects processors, grooves, and much more to fine tune your drums and playing style with the software. I will never go back to drum modules that just model sounds with minimal editing.

Can't Go Wrong
With Toontracks I find myself always looking for drums I don't have. This SDX filled a few slots. It's hard to say that one SDX or EZX is better than another, but this one packs a lot of punch.

Hands down the best thing Toontrack has ever released.

The details, the depth and the versatility of this SDX are bar none. You'll notice right away when you start playing it that it's different, there is weight and ring to the shells that's unlike anything Toontrack has ever done. Usually different is considered "niche" but this is nowhere near niche in terms of the type of music you can use it with because it pretty much fits any style.

Death & Darkness and Decades raised the bar in what we should expect from Toontrack's SDX releases... but this is just on a different level in my opinion.

There's a reason so many Toontrack products begin with "EZ" - they really do make music creation easy. If you're like many of the songwriters here at Sweetwater, then you know how important it is to stay in the groove, especially if you're adding elements to your tracks that are a bit out of your wheelhouse. Toontrack products such as EZdrummer and EZkeys cover backing tracks in all kinds of styles, so you don't need to find session players to create songs, while EZmix lets you add polish to your tracks without being a pro engineer. There are tons of expansions to flesh out your palette, and software such as Superior Drummer if you want to dive in deeper. And thanks to our amazing relationship with Toontrack, the Sweetwater staff gets to use it all, so you can always get the inside story from your Sales Engineer.
