32-channel StageConnect Interface Bridge to Multichannel USB I/O and Ultranet I/O

A 3-way digital audio bridge, the Behringer SC-U connects StageConnect, multichannel USB audio, and Ultranet systems, routing up to 32 channels of bidirectional audio, at up to 24-bit/48kHz, over a single standard XLR cable. Turn Your Stage Box Into An Interface

Since this just came out I was little skeptical but I was able to use the ultranet out on my Midas DL16 stage box into the SC-U to turn it into a 16 channel interface for recording. Can't beat that!

Perfect expansion on for X/M-Air mixers!

I've owned the Midas MR-18 for quite some time. It long ago became the center of my humble synth collection. However many times I wished for an simple method to send audio to my larger more powerful computer across the room. I have a few audio over CAT6 runs, but that also gets into a few ADC to DAC to ADC muck that I'd rather avoid. As an alternative I've been using Vincent Burel's ingenious VBAN for audio over IP. Excellent but not the most elegant solution since I have to insure all computers are powered and logged in for the software to run.

I've been using Not ready to open my checkbook into the Dante, MADI, etc, although those are more than likely more optimal solutions but a bit overkill for a one man hobby studio.

I've known for quite sometime that the Klark Teknik DN4816U might be the solution to distribute the audio over Ultranet to the USB of my DAW. Sadly that device has unobtainable for quite sometime. No doubt due to the plans to release this updated version (SC-U).

Well yesterday it arrived and it was everything I hoped.

WARNING, the Behring website is still mostly broken so good luck with the drivers.

Using ASIO drivers, I'm able to get 16 channels of 48kHz/24bit into Reaper using a buffer size of 64 for a latency of ~2.83ms/1.50ms. This is remarkably better than the MR18 does connected directly to the same machine. Guess the age of the Midas box is showing.
