Phosphor Bronze Guitar Strings

Gibson acoustic strings are designed to bring out the best possible tone from your acoustic guitar. To do that, these strings are made with a steel core wrapped in phosphor bronze. This construction produces strings with impressive clarity and a mellow bottom end. When we tried these strings at Sweetwater, we noticed that they retain their clarity well — even under hard strumming. Developed and battle-tested by master luthiers, Gibson strings are manufactured to strict specifications for the best playing feel.

Gibson Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings Features:

  • Developed by Gibson's master luthiers for the best tone
  • Ultra-soft feel for extended playing comfort
  • Phosphor bronze winding adds clarity and warmth without becoming muddy

sagpg 12-53. 12 string set.

Not sure why the reviews are so mixed on these strings.Ive been using martin monels, daddario xs and xp series and pearse pb on my 12string guitars. I recently came across a true gibson 12 string hummingbird .which i ended up bidding on and purchasing. All the string sets i tried all sounded pretty darn fine. But,someone suggested that i try gibsons lightly coated pb 12-53 strings. Im so glad i did. These strings on this 12 string was instant nirvana. This is an outstanding 12 string, .. I own several Guild 12,s which most consider the best 12 strings in the world. These strings on this guitar make this guitar phenominal.
Great strings, at least as far as this

Perfect for D tuning!

Strung up my RainSong Jumbo 12 with these, and they are perfect. I always tune down D to D, to match my vocals, and typical light strings are too loose… I strum and flat-pick aggressively, but still finger pick a few songs. The tension is high enough for the aggressive playing, yet still accommodates finger style. I have had them on for over a month, and they still sound and feel great! The great price just makes them that much better!

I often play in an acoustic duet, and I gave a set to the lead guitarist, to put on his Godin Multiac. They sound great, and he loves the feel… (The dual 12 string sound doesn't work on every song, but sounds spectacular on the right ones)!

BTW, I had no problem putting them on without breaking a string…

Heavier gauge coated 12-String set for less

No one else offers a coated 12-string set with this heavy gauge. I tune my 1989 Seagull S12 down to C# such that ordinary extra light gage strings are too floppy. I bought a second set of these coated Gibson strings because of my previous experience with them; and they now cost less than most other non-coated sets!

I didn't give these strings 5 stars because the plain steel strings do not have anti-rust treatment like competitor's coated strings do.

The high G string snapped before I even tuned it up to the correct note

I'm 27 and have been playing guitar for 15 years, so it's not like I'm a rookie stringing a guitar for the first time. I got to somewhere around the B below G and the string snapped on me. Super disappointing.
