The Wolfgang Van Halen Legacy Continues
The EVH brand continues the Wolfgang Van Halen-designed EVH SA-126 legacy with the SA-126 Standard series! Many of the classic elements previously introduced in the Special series remain intact, such as the chambered semi-hollowbody platform; the same speedy, modified C-shape neck; the same SA-126 humbucking pickups; the same hardware; and of course, the angular E-hole to round out its unique flair. The SA-126 Standard features a nyatoh body and center block, which retains that familiar rich, warm, and expressive sound. The neck now features a rosewood fingerboard on top of a baked maple neck with a satin finish that feels natural in your hands and provides a pleasing visual contrast with the new finishes. In summary, the SA-126 Standard continues to live up to the expectations of EVH instrument performance that Sweetwater guitarists know and respect. Singing semi-hollowbody construction
Wolfgang’s SA-126 models were consciously designed to stand apart from his father’s litany of iconic axes. The SA-126 Standard features a chambered semi-hollow nyatoh and a nyatoh center block for superior sustain and feedback rejection. Far removed from King Edward’s Superstrats and other solidbody creations, the SA-126 stretches the EVH brand’s tonal horizons with a warmer, richer, and more resonant voice. Finally, the EVH SA-126 is topped off with an angular E-hole — Wolfgang’s custom replacement for the traditional F-hole and a personal tribute to his father’s ubiquitous influence.
New maple neck, same performance
While the EVH Wolfgang’s SA-126 represents a fresh direction for the brand, this guitar’s slim, high-performance neck is sure to feel familiar to any EVH disciple. The SA-126 Standard now sports a baked maple neck that stays stable and feels natural in your hand. You get the same compound radius fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets, this time with a beautiful rosewood fingerboard. This compilation of tonewoods and hardware allows for fast, unencumbered playability across the entire length of the neck with an elegant look that is akin to a more classic, picturesque vibe found on more traditional hollowbody guitars.

Voiced by Fender’s resident pickup guru Tim Shaw to Wolfgang’s fine tonal tastes, the EVH SA-126’s custom humbuckers split the difference between fire-breathing overdrive fury and dense, glassy cleans. Old-school EVH adherents will have no trouble coaxing liquid leads and Eddie’s iconic “Brown Sound” out of this superlative semi-hollow — it’s certainly a rocker if you want it to be! However, these SA-126 humbuckers are designed by Wolfgang and Tim to provide modern guitarists with the greatest degree of sonic versatility possible; there’s no pigeonholing these pickups to single style or genre, as they’re equally at home spitting out expressive blues leads, modern rock crunch, and straight-ahead clean warmth.
