Solid cab

Packs a punch. A perfect addition to my Rumble Stage 800 combo.

Exactly what I expected

This fender 2-10 cab is pretty much everything you'd expect a 2-10 to be, and still offers that classic fender tone. Personally I purchased this cab along with the fender rumble 800 head and love the tone and was pleasantly surprised with the beef this thing has for just a 2-10. Great bang for the buck.

I added a fender bassman 1-15 to go with it and I'm loving the tone even though I haven't acquired any additional tone pedals yet. Probably sounding like a fender ad about now, but my whole rig is fender stuff and Im really happy with it.

OK for the money, but no way a replacement for a higher end Aguilar, Mesa, or even Ampeg cabinet.

I got this to have a smaller, lighter alternative to my newer Ampeg Heritage SVT410HLF and my older Ampeg B series 410 cabs. This thing is DEFINITELY lighter! Even for it's size, it's surprisingly light. However, it still feels well made and looks nicely finished. There are no "oops" manufacturing issues that I can see. Handles are nice and comfy for carrying, and I really like the overall shape and form-factor of this cabinet. It's like a 70-80% scale of my Heritage 410, but at less than half the weight!

Sadly, it's in the tone/performance that I'm let down a bit. I completely understand this won't have the power handling of a cabinet with twice the speakers in it, but power handling isn't what I'm talking about. I let any new cabs break-in by hooking them up to a little PA and playing music through them at a moderate volume for a full 24 hours (having a basement is AWESOME!) before I start playing them. Sometimes you hear a difference, sometimes not. Anyways, just wanted to preface this review with the fact that I DID give it some break-in time before playing.

I initially thought something was wrong with this little guy. I plugged in and started to play with all tone controls flat on both the bass and amp (Using a MarkBass Blackline 250 for home practice this day) and there was almost no "thump" or power to the sound. Very boxy and mid-range-y. I am primarily a 5 string player, but even riding the standard 4 strings, this thing does NOT bring the lows, even at quieter volumes. I normally play with the bass eq just about flat on my amps, using the 2 or 3 band active eq on my basses to adjust my sound on the fly. I've had 210 cabs before, a Hartke 210xl and an old Aguilar S210 I NEVER should have sold. This Fender is inherently thin and bass-weak compared to both of those. Turning the low eq on the amp to the 3-4 o'clock position helped, but I feel that that is pretty extreme just to get a "standard" bass sound. I couldn't find a frequency response rating or chart for this amp. I don't know if it's just tuned really high with a sharp drop off at 90-100hz or what, but this doesn't act like any other 210 I've had or played through before.

I've read a lot of reviews where people are pairing this with the Rumble 115, and I imagine that that HAS to help quite a bit in making up for the lost lows. Many reviewers around the web commented that this 210 was "just as good" as higher end models from the fancier brands at a fraction of the price. Well... like most of those claims, I call hogwash. I gave this cab a shot because of the higher power handling ratings vs a lot of the other $300-400 210 options. I wondered if Fender really DID decide to use their purchasing power and massive production volume to provide a vastly better-performing product than the competition for a similar price. My verdict... meh. Not really. Even with my lowly MarkBass 250 head, which is only rated at 150w into 8 ohms through this cab rated for 700w max/350w rms at 8 ohms, I could easily push the Fender Rumble 210 into the fart-zone. This is WITHOUT any clipping on the amp, and with room to go on the master volume knob. I would most likely fry this thing very quickly if I were playing live in a medium-sized gig with one of my proper amps.

I'm torn now... the Rumble 115 cab is relatively inexpensive. I COULD add that and probably get a pretty good sound in a mid-size stack made up of two easily-portable cabinets. But that isn't really what I'm looking for... I wanted one smaller, lighter (than my 70-90lb 410 Ampegs) cabinet that would sound good in a lower-volume application. This Fender 210, by itself, does not cut it for me. I'm deciding if I'm going to just live with it, or unload it and bite the bullet on a pricey Mesa Subway or Aguilar option. Both of those run right at a grand, but I KNOW they will perform as intended. (In all reality... I'll probably get the Mesa Subway 210 before year's end.)

To sum it all up; this Rumble 210 is NOT an adequate replacement for a more expensive 210. In fact, I think the Peavey and Hartke options for a little less are actually better balanced options. (I've owned the Hartke before) I am of the opinion that they hype around these (this) Rumble cabinets is not accurate. They are OK, but not great, and are not category killers. The main reason I'm keeping it right now is because I like the shape/size, honestly. I think it looks cool, like a mini 'fridge when paired with a smaller head like my MarkBass practice amp. For any serious use, it's back to the Ampegs for me.

If your expectations are realistic and you want something that looks a little different than your average 210, this can be a fair choice. If you think this is going to be your one-stop solution for massive tone in an easy-to-carry box, keep looking... and save up your pennies.

Ext Cab 210

I have the Rumble 800 Stage and wanted to add a little more sound on stage. This cab did just that! Light and well built- this cab would also do great with any head. Highly recommend the Fender Neo 210 cabinet! Plenty of bass and punch that wont hurt your back!
