A Much-welcome Update to a Modern Tube Amp Classic

The Revv Dynamis D20 MK2 represents the next evolution of the brand’s trailblazing tube head platform. This 20-watt tube amplifier head retains all the original D20’s most cherished cab-free features while simultaneously introducing a suite of MK2 enhancements, foremost of which is an updated and optimized revoicing of the circuit. Loaded with dual 12AX7s in the preamp and two 6V6s to drive the power section, the D20 MK2 sings with dynamic cleans and a gritty edge-of-breakup bite, along with enhanced headroom via its MK2 circuitry. Next, the D20 MK2’s embedded reactive load and virtual cabinet technology from Two Notes negate the need for a cabinet, allowing you to play and record cranked tube tones via the balanced XLR out or headphone jack without making a sound. And for those who clamor for the in-the-room roar of a guitar cab, the D20 MK2 also features 4-watt power scaling to grant you singing saturation at manageable volume levels. You also get a versatile 3-band EQ to shape your sound, a built-in footswitchable boost, a buffered series effects loop, and the MK2 additions of a treble-sharpening bright switch and lush digital reverb. It all adds up to an impeccable upgrade of Revv’s time-tested studio staple, combining cutting-edge functionality with the old soul of traditional tube amplification.

What's new in MK2?

First released in 2019, the Revv Dynamis D20 revolutionized the 6-string world with its blend of cab-free performance and unadulterated tube-powered tones. This MK2 revision shakes up the formula with a fresh circuit revoicing and superior headroom. What’s more, the D20 MK2 also introduces a lush digital reverb to save space on your pedalboard, along with a Bright switch to turn up the treble.

Embedded Two Notes tech for cab-free rocking

With just the D20 MK2 and a PA, you have everything you need to obtain a larger-than-life miked-cab tone. Built-in technology from the cabinet-emulation masters at Two Notes provides you with six customizable virtual cabinets selectable via the amp’s front panel. If that’s not enough for you, you can access up to 128 via MIDI as well. You can use the D20 MK2’s 6V6-loaded power amp or bypass it and change the amp’s character with a simulated power section. KT66s? 6L6s? EL84s? EL34s? The options are endless! Best of all, D20 is a complete standalone solution — a reactive load automatically engages when a speaker isn’t present to safeguard your amp. Whether you go direct to FOH, an audio interface, or headphones, the D20 MK2 delivers awesome tone.

Plenty of player-friendly features

The Revv D20 MK2 is loaded with everything a guitarist could want. A 3-band EQ and Volume and Gain controls give you tons of basic sound shaping. Want something a bit rowdier? A footswitchable boost gives the D20 MK2 a crunchier voice. A power-reduction circuit enables you to nail cranked tones at appropriate volume levels. A buffered series FX loop makes integrating your pedals and other external effects a piece of cake. The D20 MK2 also plays well with a variety of cabinets, thanks to a switchable 4/8-ohm speaker jack.

Top-notch tube tones developed with Nashville session guitarists

It’s easy to get distracted by the Dynamis D20 MK2’s endless bells and whistles, but even without its modern feature set, it’s a serious amp. And it should be — its tones were dialed in by Nashville session pros. At Sweetwater, we bypassed all the embedded tech and cranked it up, and everyone agreed that it’s a winner. Its clean tones are warm and inspiring, making a top-notch platform for gain pedals. Its crunch tones are bluesy and gritty, and when hot-rodded with an overdrive, downright raging. And its straightforward front-panel controls give you a ton of tonal space to maneuver in.

Revv Dynamis D20 MK2 Features:

  • The second iteration of Revv’s game-changing Dynamis D20 tube amp head, introducing expanded appointments and a revoiced circuit
  • 2 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and 2 x 6V6 power tubes deliver 20W of dynamic cleans, sweet saturation, and everything in between
  • MK2 design bolsters the headroom of the original D20, further upgrading the amp’s performance as a pedal platform
  • Lush digital reverb circuit adds space to your sound and saves a slot on your pedalboard
  • Wattage selector allows for all-out 20W operation or a more manageable 4W power-scaled mode
  • Built-in technology from the cabinet-emulation masters at Two Notes with an XLR balanced output
  • 6 customizable virtual cabinets selectable via the front panel (128 via MIDI)
  • Bypass the tube power amp and replace it with a simulated power section
  • Reactive load automatically engages when a speaker isn’t present to safeguard the amp
  • 3-band EQ and Volume and Gain controls offer straightforward tone shaping
  • Footswitchable Boost allows even the mildest pickups to achieve a searing crunch tone
  • Buffered series FX loop makes integrating pedals and external FX a breeze
  • Switchable 4-ohm/8-ohm output allows you to experiment with a variety of cabs
  • Dedicated 4-pin jack for eye-catching cabinet lighting
  • Includes footswitch, amp cover, and assorted cables
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Disappointed
The first one I received had a loud hum when taken off of standby. The hum would persist regardless of what was plugged into it or the amp settings. I own other tube amps in which none of them have had this problem. This helped rule out outside factors. I ended up exchanging it. The second one I received didn't work at all. I hope Revv fixes these quality control issues.
