For Those Prepared to Rock — Celestion Salutes You

If you're looking for extreme power handling but refuse to compromise on great tone, the Celestion Redback 12" guitar speaker is for you. Rated at 150 watts, the Redback features a supersized 2-inch voice coil and utilizes a massive G12 magnet. The result is a guitar speaker that is 100% Celestion in character but is primed to withstand a drubbing from a 100-watt head all by itself — and still come back for more. Awesome Speaker!!

I was looking to replace my Peavey Blue Marvel speaker with a new one, so I chose this speaker because my favorite guitar player also uses it. I mainly play metal, and especially metalcore, and this speaker sounds awesome with whichever tunings my 6 or 7 string guitar are in! I also play some cleans and it does very well, and it's strong enough to handle a full-sized head amp all by itself, so I highly recommend this speaker to any player!

Excellent speaker!!!

I ordered this speaker to put in a 1x12 cabinet with the hopes it would handle my 100 watt JCM800 and make it easier to take to jam sessions. Well, mission accomplished. This speaker takes everything my amp can dish out and sounds fantastic! It reproduces that classic Marshall tone and even at full volume, it doesn't even break a sweat. I also tried it on my other lower power amps and it just continues to impress.
I was most surprised how it sounds with my Boss Katana head. It really warmed that amp up. It just sounds great with every amp I've plugged into it. And, just having to carry a 1x12 to jam sessions is priceless!!!
I'd imagine in a 4x12 this speaker would sound massive but the 1x12 gets the job done.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to like my vintage 30s in my half stack but I always had to tweek the amps eq or try different electric guitar strings and even change the pick ups. I heard the celestion redback live and I had to have it. I replaced all four vintage 30s in my half stack and dam, it roars. My half stack is louder and clearer than my friends full stack its insane. Another cool thing is the way it sound when using stomp boxes (delay flanger overdrive etc. in front of the amp you feel the effects.

Redback Metal!

Got one of these in a 2x12 paired with a Celestion Cream H75 and man it sounds amazing. The Redback is darker with smooth treble(not spikey, neither is the Cream), a somewhat mid scoop and really impressive low end. It does everything the Creamback doesn't and they pair very well. Not a Vintage 30 fan and before had a CL80 and V30 pair. I would say the CL80 and Redback are similar in character, but this speaker can take much more punishment. Playing with a Baritone tuned to Drop G# with a PRS MT15 and its sounds massive!
If you want deep percussive palm mutes that dont flub this speaker fits the bill even in really low tunings.

High Wattage Vintage sound!

Just recieved my Celestion Redback Today. After putting it into my Blackheart 1 12" closed back enclosure and plugging it into my 1989 Marshall JCM 800 2204 50w, I was immediately impressed! The high end was much smoother, no "icepick" treble, the mids were solid and forward, and the bass was tight! Can't wait to put it thru its paces at practice with my old 1975 Marshall JMP 50 NMV, which easily pushes 90 watts when pushed ;which is all the time with a Les Paul Jr with a P-90! It even makes my 1 12" cab sound 'bigger'!
