Amp-like Royalty from a Unique Fulltone Circuit

Sweet mids plus undeniable clarity and sustain — that’s the Fulltone Queen Bee germanium fuzz pedal in a nutshell! Powered by three NOS military “Flying Saucer” germanium transistors, the Queen Bee achieves maximum gain, sustain, and distortion that puts two-transistor fuzzes in their place. The Queen Bee stands her ground, refusing to get lost in the mix and offering detailed control of your sound. The Queen Bee is especially versatile when you run it with the Buzz and Treble controls maxed out, using your volume control to explore its vast sonic palette — go from shimmering clean to rich overdrive to full-on distortion with a simple turn of a knob. Complete with a robust, gig-ready chassis, the Fulltone Queen Bee unleashes epic overdrive tones while turning your volume control into a sonic exploration dial.

Note: For optimum safety and sound quality, do not daisy-chain the pedal on a single power supply. Connect to a professional-grade power supply with regulated, isolated/discrete outputs and be sure to use a reversed power cable. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer with any questions.

Unleash the germanium transistors

Fulltone engineered the Queen Bee so that transistors one and two build up the gain to hit transistor no. three right where it counts, culminating in incredible sustain and distortion that leave two-transistor fuzzes in the dust. The low noise and ample midrange of this high-gain machine are factors that pedal enthusiasts at Sweetwater love! Users can tame the treble with a passive high-cut tone control or tighten up the bottom end and sculpt to their delight with the smart, lossless 3-position bass switch (positioned prior to transistor three). Next, you can use the trimmer to adjust the bias of transistor three from a range of 2–6 volts DC, where a slight twist can mean a big change in sound.

Curious about the Queen Bee’s inner workings? A quick look at an oscilloscope shows that an asymmetrical waveform is the secret to the second-order harmonics that enchant your ears. That means a sound overflowing with a sweet, rich, commanding presence and incredible sustain. Last, true-bypass switching completes the scene with top-quality signal integrity.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Great Fuzz
Well built pedal with a fuzz that is manageable and can be blended in with boost or distortion in a tasteful way.Love it!
Little Yellow Box
Great device
Awesome Sounding Fuzz
They say your palette changes over time. Well, I can say the same for fuzzy pedals. I've had many fuzz pedals over the course of my life, including other Fulltone fuzz pedals, and I never really bonded with any of them. I've always resorted back to my ocd pedal and selling most of them off. This Queen bee fuzz has changed my mind regarding the sonic tone of fuzz! I really enjoy this versatile pedal and I can truly say, this fuzz pedal is going on my pedal board. I have the 69 and 70s Fulltone fuzz pedals and by far the queen bee's Tone is the best. My sales engineer is Michael Eads and his advice brought me back to fuzz!
Music background: 45+ years of playing and collecting pedals and guitars.
Phenomenal!
Over the past couple of months I've been in search for my ideal fuzz. After lots of demos and hours upon hours of playing time, the dust has settled and this is the pedal still standing.
The Queen Bee cleans up as well as a Fuzzface, and it takes humbuckers and single coils equally well. I don't think it's trying to be anything else at all, but it will certainly do the Fuzzface cleanup... Except it's better because when you roll your guitar volume back it mostly just takes gain away and you retain most of the volume. I have my Strat neck pickup rolled back to 3 and I get this nice, glassy tone. To be honest, sometimes I think it's a better clean signal than I can get without the pedal. The rollback in gain is also more gradual than a Fuzzface, so there are more in between tones available.
When used full tilt you can get the typical slammed up against a wall type sound that most fuzz pedals will do. Rolled back to 7 on the guitar, I get a very nice distortion that I actually like better than anything my Rat does.
It's a germanium circuit, but it's not dull sounding like other germanium circuits I've played. And the treble knob and bass adjustment helps to dial in the pedal for each amp.
Build quality is better than just about everything. Fulltone pedals are robust and as soon you pick one up you feel the heft. I can also access the inside of the pedal quite easily via the side screws, no tool required.
Tried as I did to justify returning this thing for something else, I just couldn't do it.

Queen Bee is Awesome
This is by far my favorite fuzz pedal I've ever had. Great sound and easy to control with the volume on the guitar. Sounds great with an SG, Les Paul, and Strat. Cleans up nicely and gets dirty too. Highly recommend.
