Cutting-edge Quantum Capture for Elevated Home Recording

As home recording technologies advance, so do the creative possibilities of artists and content creators. PreSonus’s Quantum HD 2 distills three decades of sonic mastery into a powerful multimode interface, primed for performance with unrivaled 32-bit/192kHz resolution. Its 20-in, 24-out architecture includes a pair of dual microphone and line inputs, as well as front-mounted guitar inputs — accompanied by dedicated re-amp outputs — that were co-designed with Fender. Sweetwater’s studio experts are enamored by the interface’s masterful balance of a high-capacity I/O with an elegant, compact form factor, providing users detailed real-time feedback with its vivid LED display and controls crafted with a satisfying tactility to dial in your setup. With versatile recording tools, custom-built low-latency drivers, robust analog mic preamps, MIDI compatibility, and flexible ADAT connectivity, the Quantum HD 2 stands to upgrade any studio setup with uncompromising fidelity and control.

State-of-the-art sound and powerful performance

Beneath its robust chassis, the Quantum HD 2 contains an armada of premium recording tech. Custom-designed low-latency drivers are complemented by high-caliber converters that employ up to 124dB of dynamic range to maximize clarity and signal preservation, ensuring that audio is crystal clear and brimming with detail from input to playback. For its pair of combination mic/line jacks, PreSonus debuted their next-gen MAX-HD preamps, capable of up to +75dB of gain across a formidable 20Hz–20kHz range, resulting in unmatched transparency and clarity via digitally attenuated analog character. With impressive preamp gain, phantom power, and diverse DSP, the flexible interface seamlessly accommodates a diverse array of microphone styles and vocal deliveries for live, studio, and broadcast excellence. What’s more, the Quantum HD 2’s Auto Gain capability dials in the optimum gain levels for microphone and instrument signals, teeing you up for the perfect take every time.

Versatile interfacing with Fender-designed finesse

Through a collaborative effort with Fender, the Quantum HD 2 was engineered to facilitate recording for virtually any style and environment, including a pair of front-mounted instrument inputs that feature dedicated re-amp outputs, supplying guitarists and bassists with user-friendly plug-and-play accessibility. Its vivid LED display gives users real-time feedback through a thoughtfully-arranged interface, intentionally designed to deliver relevant details without distraction. To expand the interface’s interoperative potential, the Quantum HD 2 accommodates 16 channels via ADAT optical connectors at 48kHz, alongside a stereo-capable S/PDIF port and MIDI compatibility. Moreover, its balanced stereo output jacks are DC-coupled, opening the possibility of sending CV signals to compatible modules, synthesizers, effects units, or pedals. Plus, the Quantum HD 2 includes a built-in Loopback capability, making quick work of crafting monitor or streaming mixes.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Been loving it
As always, PreSonus delivering quality products at affordable prices! Fender, keep it up.

A great upgrade choice
I purchased the Quantum HD 2 to upgrade an older, entry-level interface. The difference is notable. It's easy to plug in and use, and the Universal Control software is up and running in no time.

The auto-gain feature works great, and I use it often. And the integration with Studio One is really useful ... things like storing and recalling the input gain on channels via the DAW is a nice touch.

I've been able to use the instrument level outputs for reamping as well. This output level is fixed, which took me a short time to figure out, as I was new to reamping.

I definitely recommend the Quantum HD interfaces, especially if you mix in Studio One or interface with other Presonus software/hardware.
Excellent Interface! Great customer service!
I recently ventured out into home studio recording, and the sales rep, Sean DeLeon, understanding my budget recommended this interface. It not only was/is compatible with my 2019 Macbook Pro, but also comes with full 1yr access to Presonus Studio One DAW software. In addition this unit also is 32 bit float for us amateurs so getting gain set perfectly isn't so critical. The unit has proven to be flatly amazing and the full integration with Studio One and my MBP couldn't be better! I've run my Shure Nexadyne 8/s, AKG-420 mics as well as acoustic guitar pickups and Yamaha MODX8 through this HD2 with zero issues whatsoever.

On the technical side - support has been outstanding! I had (intentionally) upgraded to Sequoia on my Mac which was literally 2wks out of the gate before purchasing this gear because I wanted to be as 'future proofed' as possible. Well? As predicted, Apple's Sequoia OS threw a few curves and caused some initial installation connectivity issues (NOT THE DEVICE OR SOFTWARE FAULT). The tech spent a solid hour on the phone with me ferreting out the updated security nuances of the Sequoia OS. They got me up and running flawlessly. Cannot thank or recommend them enough!

6mo into owning/using this unit, the ONLY thing that I would have liked (in retrospect) is an additional headphone out jack. I wound up buying an additional headphone amp as a result - but I had bought the HD2 for MYSELF...only to find out my wife wanted to do a few duets. WHAT?!?! Okay. That's on me. I'm not dinging this device or review for a channge in MY needs. Purchase with confidence! Sweetwater rocks!

Great stuff
Got used, paired with audient Evo sp8 preamps with ADAT, no latency issues, clear preamps with loads of gain, very intuitive with the auto gain features.
Music background: Guitar, mixing, recording
Great but limited
I purchased the HD2 to replace my Presonus Studio 192 Mobile, but I didn't realize that it can only record 2 channels simultaneously, thus the "2" in the name I suppose, lol. For example, if you plug your keyboard into the front 2 inputs (stereo), that disables the back 2 inputs, so you can't record your mic in the back at the same time. I'm a Presonus fan, and I'm sure this product is great, but doesn't work for me. I'll probably swap it for the ES4 model since I need more inputs, but not all of the digital audio stuff.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
