A Revolutionary Sustain Pedal for Your Axe

The Gamechanger Audio Plus Pedal is not your average stompbox looper — it's an extension of your instrument that bridges the gap between your rhythm and lead playing, making it easy for guitarists and other musicians to explore new sonic frontiers. The Plus Pedal utilizes Gamechanger's proprietary audio algorithm that lets you capture and sample small segments of your instrument’s signal in real time and loop them into a seamless sustained sound. Unlike granular synthesizers and synth-pad triggers, Plus Pedal actually plays a constant high-resolution recording of your instrument and, once engaged, the real-time sampling algorithm instantly creates a micro loop out of the most recent audio signal.

Smart looping magic

You can think of the Plus Pedal as a "smart looper" that only catches the last segment of a note or chord you select by pressing down on the piano-style pedal, and uses that to create a warm and responsive continuous sound. The layers of sustain created by the Plus Pedal sound nearly identical to the original tone of your instrument, and you can further tweak the Plus Pedal to achieve the specific type of sustain you hear in your head. In use, the Plus pedal delivers results that are quite different (and much more varied) from those produced by typical looper and "freeze" pedals. Similar to the sostenuto pedal on a piano, the Plus Pedal lets you easily sustain selected notes, while others remain unaffected.

A permanent place in your rig

We can see the Plus Pedal becoming a staple in every guitarist’s rig — much like the wah. Whether you’re a soloist or you play in a trio, it's ideal for creating pads to fill out a sparse arrangement while you're playing single-note lines. The ability to place effects exclusively on the sustain also opens up worlds of tonal potential. For film scoring, guitarists at Sweetwater have found that it allows them to use their native instrument to create atmospheric, synth-like pads and moody, ambient drones and textures without having to reach for their keyboard controller. But while guitarists are naturally drawn to the pianistic sustain abilities of the Plus Pedal, it's actually a game changer for virtually any instrument and all music genres.

A valuable creative tool

Besides being a must-have arrangement and compositional tool, the Plus Pedal also excels at creating beautiful and unique textures and sound effects that would otherwise be impossible to produce in real time. Onstage or in the studio, being able to instantly transform any sound produced by your instrument into a layer of continuous sound will open up creative portals, forever changing the way you approach making music. The Plus Pedal is also an amazingly effective tool for ear training and practicing melodies, scales, and modes over specific chords or tonal counterpoints. Beneath its attractive visuals, the Plus Pedal boasts a tour-tough housing and robust build quality for decades of professional use.

Everything They Said!

This replaced my EHX Freeze Pedal and the Freeze feature in my Boss multi effects pedal. The facts that it can gently fade in and out, lair more than one tone and have options on all parameters is literally a game changer!
Music background: Working musician and music teacher since the early 80s.

Astonishing

This has added several entirely new dimensions to my playing. There are two modes, one where you can stack the samples and one where it's a single sample each time. They have different applications of course. For the stack, I stack two, and sustain two bass notes that form a chord I can solo over. Each new note knocks off the first, and a second chordal figure appears. (I tried with three and I think that's some Bach-level complexity that I'm gonna want to write out before I try.)

For the single, there's the chordal use that the sample video demonstrates well, and then I also use it to hold that final note of a solo well past when I'm back to rocking the job.

The instructions say it works best as the very first pedal but I've found it completely useful in other places as well.

Great addition for all styles

Saw alot of ambient music folks touting this pedal, had to have it.
I play in an Instrumental "Surf" inspired band (think Dick Dale Ventures etc.) works great as an enhancment with other delays and reverbs.
I also used it on an acoustic roots music gig last weekend, worked great there as well.
Seems "easier" to use it through a dedicated amp, easier to blend the pedal output and tone when its not in the signal chain of my pedal board.
The upshot here is, this thing is a lot of fun....
Solid and well built.
Music background: MI grad, 1980. Play all styles, (not great at country), very eclectic tastes in music generally.

Unique, and something that grows on you

I am a flute player, and the ability to send out a stack of sampled tones into another chain of effects separate than my main microphone is very special. I can build chords and then pair them down, really perform with it as an added instrument. It has taken a while to grow comfortable with it, but a special piece of gear

One of the coolest pedals I've ever used!

If you are just using this pedal for a freeze only, that is cool. But this pedal really shines with the effects loop. For instance, you can put an SY-200 and Neo Ventilator II in the effects loop for some instant organ sounds and then use the Vent to change the ramp speed from slow to fast. Whatever you put in the effects loop, you can layer! This isn't a one trick pony and has 2 different modes to explore! I got 2 of these, one for each mode, but in the end I was fine with just one because I like the layered option more. So yeah, I liked it so much I went overkill and got two! Plus it is so nice to stomp on this beautiful piano-like pedal, much more satisfying than the click of a switch. The only downside to this pedal is you need to learn how to capture your suspended note. Pluck the note, then right after do the freeze and press the pedal. What you are trying to capture is the "pure" sound and if you capture the "attack" of the note you can get some unwanted artifacts in the held "sample". Just like on a sustain pedal on a piano, you want to play then hit the sustain pedal. This pedal works in a similar fashion! So in short, this pedal is amazing, and you need to be think about what you are going to put in the effects loop, because if you don't utilize it, you aren't using this pedal to its full potential. Amazingly innovative pedal! Get it!
