Studio-quality Compression and Much More

As effective in the studio as it is in your guitar chain, the Electro-Harmonix Platform stereo compressor boasts enough tone-shaping power to replace a handful of pedals on your board. The stereo compression circuit is studio quality, making it a valuable piece of outboard gear. But put it in your guitar rig, and you're instantly nailing squashed chicken pickin' tones, harmonically rich sustain, and everything else between. Add in the Platform's onboard overdrive and swell effects, and you have an all-in-one tonal solution.

Versatile compression

The EHX Platform blurs the line between guitar and studio compression. Controls for Volume, Attack, Release, and Sustain dial in the perfect blend of squash and clarity to help your track pop through the mix with a finished sheen. You'll also find two buttons for Knee and Limiter that tune the Platform's character for a more or less aggressive reaction. And its true stereo signal path ensures the pedal is able to adapt flawlessly to any guitar or recording rig.

Onboard overdrive

Guitarists have been smoothing out their overdriven guitar tones with compressors for decades. And thanks to the Platform's onboard dirt, you'll be able to achieve those thick, sustaining tones with a single pedal. The overdrive boasts the full complement of Volume, Tone, and Drive controls to shape your sound. And the Drive is also individually footswitchable, allowing you to access your dirtier tones on the fly.

String instrument and synth-like tones

A special treat waits under the Platform's Swell control. Turning it up, you'll dial out much of your note's original attack, attaining a smooth volume swell that is fantastic for copying stringed-instrument and synth-like tones. Sweetwater guitarists found that it sounds every bit as good with or without drive, opening up even more tonal variety.

Electro-Harmonix Platform Compressor Pedal Features:

  • Compressor pedal that excels onstage and in the studio
  • True stereo operation offers many ways of routing your signal
  • Flexible compression circuit that allows for minimal or extreme settings
  • Onboard overdrive is individually selectable
  • Swell control cops great string and synth tones
  • Performs great as an outboard studio compressor
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Man!!!
This thing is pretty nice… It sounds good for a guitar peddle. I have it running first on my analog master chain from my MPC Live 2 into my DAW. Seems to glue the mix real good and the drive knob adds a nice touch too. pew pew.. oh and I produce Boom Bap and lofi chill hip hop

My Super Budget Master Chain: from MPC to,
1. Electro Harmonics Platform peddle
2. two Presonus Studio Channels (one for left channel and one for right channel
3. Berhinger SX3040 V2 2-Channel
4. Into my Studio 192 to Studio One Pro
5. Studio One master chain (Porta Tape, FabFilter Pro Q3, FabFilter Pro R, Ozone 10 Assistant.

Yeahaha I said budget! Sounds great to me for now! If you are looking for a decent stereo or mono compressor limiter with drive and sustain id pick this peddle up!

Electro Harmonix 1st peddle in my youth
I have to admit. I was a little bit hesitant about investing an electroharmonics because as a young teenager rock 'n' roll band, the big muff just didn't really do what my other friends Marshall Amsen so forth. I've evolved. In this pedal was spot on for what I was seeking thank you Electro Harmonix.

This pedal will allow you to get that effect. Just learn how to use 3 knobs…
"Sustain, Drive and Swell knobs."
This pedal does it! Thanks electro-harmonx!
Seriously, I Love this Pedal. It does a lot more than the "Buckingham Effect..."
A Bunch More...

Great on Bass
This compressor is a hidden gem. I use the TONEX pedal and I wasn't impressed with the compression for my bass. I hooked this up and disabled the compression on the TONEX pedal and the difference was very noticeable! I also find the drive a great addition and it doesn't hurt the tone of my bass guitar. You're actually getting 2 pedals in one and it does both very nicely. I have no use for the swell knob though.
It’s so good
It's not often that a piece of gear exceeds expectations but the platform really delivers as a compressor/limiter - easy to find usable settings and the knee button is very helpful depending on your source audio.

What is surprising is how useful the drive section is. Really opens up a lot of tonal options.

Add the swell button for some additional cool sounds and this thing feels like a bargain.

It's great on guitar but I like it on synths and for re amping things like drums - great smack and color. For my use, having the option to use in stereo was important but the real deciding factor was having a meter. The metering is totally helpful on the platform!

One last suggestion if you have a stereo effects chain - try putting the compressor at the end of your fox chain instead of the typical beginning of the chain - it can really expand and emphasize your tone in interesting and unexpected ways.
