Dual-voice Distortion Versatility

Wampler’s Phenom Distortion pedal is a no-frills addition to the Collective Series, providing guitarists with searing high-gain tones for a wallet-friendly price! This little stompbox boasts a massive range of tonal possibilities, courtesy of the dual-voice design that allows you to switch between the smooth sounds of Classic mode and the cutting bite of Bright mode. A full 3-band EQ makes it a breeze to sculpt the Phenom’s response, while the gain knob takes you from a light bark all the way to a screaming saturation-drenched roar. Premium components, a masterful build quality, and a myriad of high-octane dirt tones at a budget price: the Phenom is all but guaranteed to become a modern Wampler classic!

Two distinct tonal voices

The Phenom’s split personality is unlocked with the flip of a 2-way switch, taking you between Classic mode and Bright mode for incredible tonal flexibility.

  • Classic mode: If you’re after silky-smooth breakup with a focused bottom end, Classic mode will be your setting of choice. This mode is particularly sensitive to pickup choices, producing a clear and dynamic saturation when played through a clean amp with single coils, while humbuckers unlock a high-octane saturation that screams when pushed through an amp on the edge of breakup.
  • Bright mode: As the name suggest, bright mode kicks up the highs and sounds clear, glassy, and articulate. This mode is perfect for cutting through a mix, allowing even the most complex of lines to shine and shimmer with clarity.

Wampler Collective series

The boutique revolution has been a godsend to the world’s tone chasers, providing guitarists with more sonic options than at any other point in the guitar’s history. However, assembling a dream board packed full of boutique creations can quickly topple a budget, especially if you're after the best the stompbox world has to offer. Wampler’s Collective series aims to change that, built to provide guitarists with top-of-the-line tones, all at a significantly lower cost than your typical boutique box. While the visuals and aesthetics are trimmed down, each pedal in the Collective series features the same premium components and uncompromising dedication to tone for which Sweetwater’s guitarists have come to rely on.

Wampler Phenom Distortion Pedal Features:

  • Dual-voiced distortion design provides enhanced sonic flexibility
  • Classic mode provides a round, punchy distortion with exceptional dynamic control
  • Bright mode kicks up the highs for a glassy sound packed with lively overtones
  • Extremely responsive to different pickup designs
  • 3-band EQ to carve out your sonic signature
  • Top mount jacks for easy integration into your pedalboard
  • Premium components and build quality

Great sounding distortion pedal

Very amp like. I'm a guitars, amps and, pedal builder and designed a tube amp with a fenderish clean channel and a hot rodded marshall od channel and I can make this pedal ,on the clean channel, sound as the amp's od channel. It's very good. The frequency range is very wide on this pedal and the eq is very powerful. The bottom end is thick kind of loose compared to other hi gain pedals I have but not flabby great for lead tones. However can be tighten rolling off the bass like before 11 or 10oclock. Then you can get tighter tones. The mids voicing is to my taste and the knob goes from very scooped to humpy. I like it between 12 and 1oclock. You can make is sound very bright with the treble knob but not overly bright or harsh. The gain knob is usable all the way if eq properly accordingly (all the way up, more bass roll off needed). I also got the Triumph and both together sound great. I like them a lot with the both around halfway on the gain knob. Sounds great higher but I don't have a gate on the chain and squeals. Both pedals are very quiet noise wise. Glad I bought them. Amazing how good they sound for $.
Music background: Worship for many years. Guitars, amps and, pedals builder since 2013.

Wampler Phenom

Solid, well built, nice looking pedal. I like the smooth backplate for velcro, and the 3 band EQ. I'm just not impressed with the tones. To me, or at least thru my amp, it sounded too similar to the Boss DS1, which I have. I just can't keep a pedal that doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Sounds amazing on YouTube, but not with my gear.
