Hammered Brass Snare from the Black Panther Series

As with our favorite cymbals, the Black Panther Persuader snare’s brass shell is hammered to elicit maximum dryness and complexity. This translates to a sound that requires very little muffling at any tuning, cranked or relaxed. The Persuader snare features a 1.2mm hammered brass shell that is slightly undersized to allow the batter and snare-side heads full freedom of movement under any condition. This means whether you’re cranking up onstage or laying back in the studio, the Black Panther Persuader is primed to give you memorable performance. Great Snare

I absolutely love this Snare
I installed a Zikit on it as well
Now I have this Snare in 10" (my fave), 12" and 14" varieties.
Tune it high, grip and rip.
No dampening needed.

Incredible!

This snare ROCKS. It sounds just as great as a Ludwig black magic I've had in the past, and I'd argue even better. I originally looked at Tama or SJC for a hammered brass snare after hearing so many good brass snares love, but decided this would be a great compromise on price. I wasn't expecting it to sound like it is no compromise at all! It has very focused and clear tone, with a huge amount of attack and sensitivity. Cannot recommend this snare more! My sales engineer Chris Golbach is awesome too, huge thanks to him and everyone at Sweetwater

Absolutely delicious

After playing drums for 13 years I finally put some money into a quality snare and I'm so glad i chose the Mapex Persuader. Not only does the hand hammered black brass look unique but this thing can sing. Out of box it had a super low tuning and didn't sound like a snare at all but after 5 minutes of bringing it up to a medium tuning I'm in love, even with a stock head. The rounded rims on the snare make my rim shots stand out more than ever before too. It tunes up fast, super loud, plays low, medium, and high tunings perfectly, it can do it all. I noticed my ghost notes are more articulate compared to a cheaper Yamaha snare I used for years before. Snare throwoff is buttery smooth and having two wire tension adjustments makes it so you can make sure the wire is perfectly even on both sides. There's a little overtone ring but that can easily be tuned out or put a little bit of moon gel on it. I usually cut one in half and put a piece on 2 sides of the snare but I'm loving the wide open sound of it right now.
