Get the Sound Backed by an Industry

Avid Pro Tools | HDX is, by far, the most powerful, versatile, and professional DAW system to ever hit the recording world. You not only get powerful DSP-accelerated plug-in capabilities, but you also get the pro-level features of Pro Tools | Ultimate - features that aren't available to standard Pro Tools users. You get support for advanced S6 features, advanced editing functions, superior delay compensation, expanded video implementation, and unprecedented connectivity and expandability. Also, while Pro Tools lets you mix in stereo, with Ultimate you can mix in everything from mono to 7.1 surround sound. If you want what major recording studios and post-production houses use, step into Pro Tools | HDX.

Avid HDX DSP acceleration gives you massive processing power

At Sweetwater, we're still amazed at how powerful these cards are. Each Pro Tools | HDX Core PCIe card is like having about the equivalent of an HD3 or HD4 system on a single card. To put it mildly, that's a ton of DSP power for your DAW! What's more, there's a separate FPGA processor for your mix bus, so all of your HDX card's DSP power is dedicated to running plug-ins. Each HDX card gives you 256 voices, a full four times the routing capacity of an Accel card. That means you can freely use Avid's AAX plug-ins, without worrying about running out of voices.

Avid Pro Tools | HDX Core PCIe Card Features at a Glance:
  • Incredible DSP power for Avid's AAX plug-in format
  • 3-7 times the power of an HD Accel system on a single PCIe card
  • FPGA mix processor frees up DSP for powering plug-ins
  • Up to 256 voiceable tracks per card
  • Up to 64 channels of simultaneous I/O per card
  • Connect up to 4 HD interfaces per card
  • 64-bit floating-point summing sounds amazing
  • 32-bit floating-point processing between plug-ins preserves quality and dramatically increases headroom
  • Expand your system by adding more HDX cards
  • Compatible with Pro Tools | Ultimate software
The Avid Pro Tools | HDX Core PCIe card delivers industry-standard performance.

Impossible to beat!

If you mainly mix or do post production then computers today have more than enough power. But for tracking even today with Apple Silicon the HDX card is still king. No buffer settings. If you have a large mix and want to track into it you get zero latency especially with Pro Tools Hybrid Option. I like to record my guitar direct and use Amp Modelers in Pro Tools WHILE I am recording. With HDX its zero latency using the DSP plugins. I never could have done this before and would have to record via some external modeler and then re-amp later etc. With HDX it opened up so many doors. Owning many systems and state of the art computers and interfaces I have never gotten reliable zero latency. I purchased my HDX in 2023 after trying Apple Silcon and every other option to get low latency. HDX was the best investment in a long time. Do not let anyone convince you DSP is dead and you can do it in the box. Yes for post and mixing but not for tracking.

It just works.

I've been using HDX for years. It just works. I added a second card to have more horsepower and tracks. Sure there is the argument that we should just be allowed to push the software to fail, but I think that's a waste of time. I want to feel confident that when I turn the system on it's gonna work. I've sat there before, turning off tracks. Freezing tracks. Asking my client to wait while I tinkered with the system. It's a waste of time and kills creativity. There is a reason why Pro Tools is the professional choice.
