Maple/mahogany construction
In keeping with solidbody tradition, the Private Stock Modern Eagle V is made from figured mahogany and topped with a thick slab of highly figured maple. This classic tonewood combination facilitates a well-rounded tonal profile with a nice top-end sparkle. Pattern Vintage neck
Paul's Private Stock Modern Eagle V manages to maximize performance and comfort through its asymmetrical Pattern Vintage neck profile. Though much like PRS's Pattern profile, the Pattern Vintage carve is slightly thicker to fill your hand in just the right way, for a neck feel that is substantial but never gets in the way.
17 distinct tones at your fingertips
With its TCI-tuned humbuckers and center single-coil, the PRS Private Stock Modern Eagle V is a garden of sonic possibilities. In addition to a standard 5-way selector, you get a wealth of switching options to experiment with. Two paired mini-toggles separate the humbuckers' slug-side coils, transforming them into true single-coils with zero volume loss. A push-pull tone control activates both humbuckers, enabling simultaneous access to all three pickups. You also get a third mini-toggle that changes the volume pot value from 500k to 250k, supplying you with a different palette of sonic textures. Altogether, the Modern Eagle V gives you a vast array of tones, from classic humbucker overdrive to tight single-coil twang.
Gen III tremolo
The Private Stock Modern Eagle V's Gen III tremolo system blurs the line between a traditional vibrato bridge and a hardtail. From the radiusing of its bridge plate grooves to the added mass/diameter of its mounting screws, this machined brass bridge has been designed for maximum tonal transfer between the hardware and woods. The result is a great tone and high tuning performance, even for palm mutes and dives. Individually adjustable saddles that are held in by sidewalls to eliminate side-to-side motion.
Phase III locking tuners
Of course, on a guitar with a vibrato tailpiece, your tuners have got to perform reliably. The Modern Eagle V's Phase III locking tuners are an elegant design with smooth, high-tolerance pegs, large buttons, an open back, and closed housing. Even better, these locking tuners clip the string end for you, so you’ll spend less time tuning up and more time playing.
