Ultra-modern Manufacturing Produces a Superbly Balanced String

For years, PRS guitars have shipped with PRS custom strings that players all over the world have loved to get their hands on. The PRS Classic Electric Guitar Strings provide a balanced and high-output tone when you plug in your guitar. Each nickel-plated plain string is drawn through high-quality dies while the bass strings' steel hex core is computer wound with a nickel wrap. This winding technique's pinpoint accuracy results in a comfortable playing tension and long-term durability. Guitar players of all kinds at Sweetwater rave about the superb tonal balance that these pure nickel-wound strings provide.

A History of Innovation

Always an innovator, Paul Reed Smith took the guitar world by storm in the late 1980s. His original designs, highly figured maple caps, and incredible craftsmanship set PRS up as a major guitar manufacturer. Since then, Paul and the design team at PRS have never stopped innovating. They've redesigned classic models from the 1950s and improved pickup configurations, tremolo systems, and manufacturing techniques without sacrificing the famous PRS quality and attention to detail. Now, they've produced extremely high-quality guitar strings that players love.

Reviews

Excellent!
These are nice, high quality strings. I have no complaints, in fact I bought another set.
Music background: I keep at it.
Rich tone, easy playing with with good longevity
These strings are made by D'Addario to PRS specs. Don't let that fool you, they feel, play, and sound unique. I've been playing 10's for decades and the first time I strung up PRS classic strings I thought they felt like 9s, and had to double check and measure to believe. They have all the tone and depth of 10s, and the especially the unwound strings have this extra buttery richness that I've never heard before. I used to like DR for thick tone but now I'm 100% PRS Classic. They're priced right and seem to last a long time particularly here in Hawaii by the ocean. I do wipe my guitars and strings down after every time I play.
If you have a PRS, you should try these.
I have a PRS SE hollow body that I really like, but couldn't find a set of strings that brought out the best in it. They didn't sound bad, just lacked what I wanted. The guitar is mahogany, so it is warm sounding.
I figured that PRS made the guitar, I should try their strings. It is like they were made for this guitar! I wanted more vibrancy without being too metallic. I wanted more shine and still have that singing warmth. These have it! Sweetwater had these at my door crazy fast.
I finally found the strings that my PRS really likes.

The ONLY strings that will ever go on my PRS guitar
I bought a PRS CE24 a few months back and played it so much I managed to break a string in less than a month. I didn't know what strings came factory-default on it so I gave it to a tech to let him decide. He put ClearTone 9-24's which sounded absolutely awful and completely ruined the magic of this beautiful guitar.

I did some research and replaced them with some PRS Signature Electrics, which sound 95% the same, but have a noticeably brighter and twangier tone. That might be a plus depending on the sound you're looking for, but I wanted the original sound I had the day I bought my guitar. Fortunately, I had the foresight to pick up a pair of these Classic Electric strings along with the signatures, and the other day I accidentally let the locking tuner on one of my strings unwind and the string fell out. I decided to string it back up with these strings, and lo and behold, my CE24 is back to sounding exactly like it did the day I bought it. Absolute perfection.

I will never put another brand of strings on my PRS guitar, ever. That said, I've heard rumors that PRS strings don't quite sound the same on other guitar brands, so if you have something else, D'Addario NYXLs are a fantastic alternative to these. I use them on my Ibanez G10 and my buddy has them on his BFR JP15, It doesn't matter if it's a $200 guitar or a $2700 one--they sound incredible all the same.
Love them...but...
These are some of the best string I've used. The tone is smooth and subtle, and pair wonderfully with my SE Standard 24. They have nice sustain and hold a tuning very well.
Unfortunately, my experience with PRS lately has been long backorders, so I'm currently looking into other options.

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
