Go ProGO!
The Auralex ProGO is a stylish, portable absorption treatment panel that comes with a fabric covering and two MDF melamine floor stands.
We've come a long way. Back in the day, studios had to build their own gobos; you couldn't simply buy one. Along with the development of multitrack recording in the 1960s came the need for acoustical isolation of individual sound sources during tracking sessions. Using portable absorptive panels dubbed gobos (short for "go-betweens"), studio personnel were able to quickly construct partial or enveloping walls or cubicles behind or around singers, amps, and instrumentalists in the studio. Acoustically isolating and absorptive, gobos became a recording studio staple, useful for keeping the sound of guitar amps, drums, singers, brass sections — you name it — from spilling out into the room and, conversely, from being infiltrated by extraneous sounds. Their absorptive qualities are also desirable during solo recording sessions; making a large, cavernous room sound intimate, for instance, during a lead vocal overdub. Many Sweetwater engineers are using Auralex ProGO panels in their studios and have given them rave reviews.
