The Original Bundled-dowel Drumsticks

Promark is the originator of today's rod drumsticks. Drummers flock to these bundled-dowel sticks for their reduced volume and creative textures around the kit. And since Rods are available in four flavors — from the original Hot Rods and reduced-volume Cool Rods to the heavy-hitting Lightning Rods and Thunder Rods — Promark has a sound that every player is sure to love. When sticks are too loud but brushes are too soft, Sweetwater drummers recommend Promark Rods to our customers and friends.

Promark Rods: the sticks that saved rock 'n' roll

Promark Rods helped save one of rock's most popular Unplugged sessions: Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York. Drummer Dave Grohl, famous for his Animal-like playing approach, had trouble adapting to the acoustic setting, and frontman Kurt Cobain started getting cold feet. "The thing about Unplugged is," said producer Alex Coletti, "if the drummer doesn't really, really get it under control, it brings the show to a bad-sounding electric show instead of a good-sounding acoustic show." Alex's assistant bought Dave a set of Hot Rods the day of taping, and the rest is history. Good thing, too — up until the switch, there was talk of Dave not joining the group for the sessions, which would have been a major blow to millions of us Nirvana fans in the '90s.

So much control...
I don't hit the drums hard, and these sticks really bring out my dynamics. I've never felt such a sense of control, while being able to get the EXACT room volume I want. Soft hits let you play with acoustic instruments, and these are beefy enough to match the volume of 1x12 guitar amps no problem.

If you're performing for people who like being able to hear conversation without shouting - which is to say, most people... using these instead of regular sticks will likely get you invited back to perform again. One other nice perk is the reduction in hearing damage.

Favorite Drum Rods
I love this set of Rods! Absolutely the best! They are so expressive. I enjoy them maybe over my favorite pair of sticks! I love the slim diameter. Easy to hold. If you're thinking about adding Rods to your kit you can't go wrong with this beautiful pair!

Drummers tool box must
Always nice to have the ability to soften the beat for room size, amount of musicians, or just to tone down backbeat, one more tool that can improve your different styles of music.

Pro-Mark Rods
I love um but some drummers. I have been using them for 7-8 years for both live stuff and recordings. If o you like to play hard but don't want to be loud on the gig, this is the trick. But they will take some adjusting to get used to the Rods. Great for country/ and fast paced rolls on the drum which will give you a very organic sound. Buy 1 pair & test them out
