Great Sounding Snare!!!

Love this snare drum. Amazing sound I can get out of it and I love the wood hoops! Rim shots sound great on them. Pick you up one of these!!!

A fine value!

I bought this drum to "test the waters" as I'm considering buying the 26", 16", 13" shell pack with the same build/finish. Figured if I was disappointed, return shipping cost wouldn't be much.

The hardware quality is good, not merely adequate as one might expect at this price point. The finish is consistent but seems it may show handling dings and scratches easily so I'll be extra cautious. The lug and tension rod threads are cut well so no binding. It tuned up fairly easily to a pitch and tone I expected. I think it's a fine value for a good looking and sounding wood snare drum.

The only thing missing in my opinion is the lack of a factory installed internal muffler. I'll be putting one in it. A little dampening is needed to get the sound I like and I prefer not to clutter the head with external mufflers, tape, etc.

After seeing the build quality of this snare, I have no reservations about purchasing the matching shell pack.

Pure Maple wood.

Pure Maple. Beautiful sound. Very clear, when strainer is off.
Sound has a perfect clear pure maple ring with modest Volume and even projection.

Pro -Sound, of High grade Pure Maple. A wide range of applications.

Snare color doesn't match my PDP Be Bop kit

First let me say that Sweetwater is always great. This is a manufacturing issue. I'm sure the snare was just sitting in it's original box and Sweetwater had no idea of it's appearance. I bought my kit 3 years ago and recently decided to get the matching snare. As you can see from the picture the stain on the snare is much lighter than the tom. On every website the pictures of this series of PDP snare in Walnut is darker than the snare that I got from PDP/Sweetwater. So buyer be ware! If you're looking for a matching snare to your kit, it may not be a match. Now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to stain(which I bought) it darker myself or do some kind of wrap?
