Reinventing the Rex Brown Wah
Whether weaving walking bass lines under Dimebag Darrell’s frenetic solos or holding down the low end for Down, Kill Devil Hill, Crowbar, or Elegant Weapons, there’s no mistaking Rex Brown — he’s a true American original. The Morley Rex Brown Old Blue Wah is a spot-on re-creation of the Pantera bassist’s trusty ‘90s-era Morley Pro Series II Wah — a.k.a. “Old Blue” — complete with the original circuit layout and through-hole components. Able to accommodate guitar, bass, and keyboards with equal confidence, the Rex Brown Old Blue Wah delivers a larger-than-life sweep with phase-shifter-esque textures reminiscent of Morley’s original 1970s pedals. That said, it brandishes plenty of modern Morley design staples, such as electro-optical operation and switchless activation, ensuring whisper-quiet performance and trouble-free deployment. You also get a 15dB Wah Level control and a premium buffer circuit, along with a rugged cold-rolled steel housing, an LED indicator, and a glow-in-the-dark rubber treadle. Part of Morley’s Classic series, the Rex Brown Old Blue Wah enables today’s musicians to harness the sound of one of the company’s most coveted classics.

Resurrecting Rex Brown’s Pro Series II Wah
Rex Brown has stomped on a 1990s-era Morley Pro Series II Wah — his trusty “Old Blue” — for well over three decades. Old Blue has seen lots of action throughout the past 30-plus years, both onstage and in the studio, where it was brilliantly showcased on multiple Pantera albums. The Morley Rex Brown Old Blue Wah re-creates the original pedal in meticulous detail, right down to the original circuit layout and through-hole components. This circuit derives from Morley’s 1992 redesign, which first introduced the company’s now-standard electro-optical operation and switchless activation. There’s a reason why Morley’s electro-optical design receives so much acclaim around Sweetwater — its whisper-quiet operation makes scratchy pots seem downright antiquated, and it's highly resistant to outside noise and electromagnetic interference. On top of that, Morley's switchless operation makes these pedals a breeze to activate — just step on the glow-in-the-dark treadle to engage the wah and step off to bypass.
