Big Bass Tone with Schecter Bling

Rock out in style with the Schecter Omen Extreme-4 Bass Guitar. The classy flame maple top and black chrome hardware on this booming bass adorn a mahogany body and maple neck that's topped with a rosewood fingerboard. You'll love the pair of Schecter Diamond Bass pickups and the 2-band active EQ; this setup lets you conjure practically any kind of bass tone you want — and plenty of it. Top-grade components keep this bass stable and perfectly in tune for worry-free performance. Keep the low end locked down with the Schecter Omen Extreme-4 Bass Guitar!

Custom Schecter hardware for high performance

One of the notable facets about Schecter's more affordable basses is the hardware. Unable to source an affordable 4-string bridge that still delivers the performance and stability serious guitarists demand, Schecter simply decided to create one. This Schecter Diamond Bass bridge gives you the stability you need plus a massive range of intonation. Also a nice surprise, the sealed and permanently lubricated tuning machines on the Schecter Omen Extreme-4 let you stay in tune like a pro.

Killer tonewood combo balances rich sound with serious sustain

As with any bass guitar, the choice of tonewoods Schecter used has a huge impact on both the sound and feel of the Omen Extreme-4. To keep this instrument light enough to play for hours yet resonant enough for metal, Schecter selected mahogany and flame maple for the body and maple for the neck. This combination gives the Omen Extreme-4 plenty of bite, without limiting the low-end impact. Add to that a naturally conditioned rosewood fingerboard, and you've got killer sound and feel. Take it from the Sweetwater crew: the Omen Extreme-4 will give you years of great performance.

Powerful 2-band EQ lets you dial in the perfect tone

When you need a specific tone for a session, there's nothing like an active EQ. The Schecter Omen Extreme-4 bass sports a powerful 2-band EQ that gives you a fat low end and snappy highs. From funk to jazz to nu metal, the Omen Extreme-4's EQ has the tone-sculpting power you demand in a bass.

Schecter Omen Extreme-4 Bass Guitar Features:

  • Supremely comfortable contoured mahogany body with flame maple top
  • Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard optimized for fast bass playing
  • Schecter humbucking pickups deliver deep bass tones
  • 2-band active EQ lets you dial in your perfect tone
  • Schecter bass tuners provide precise tuning

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

This bass is awesome!!!!
I had been watching this bass for about 2 years trying to decide if I really need another bass or not when my original schecter finally died after 20+ years of performing at punk shows...it was my baby to say the least and worked flawlessly with all the beer, spit, and blood it had come into contact over the years... the quality of schecter is un matched an I only expect the best from this bass.. came set up out of the box and is truly a beautiful instrument.. it sounds great and would recommend from beginner to expert would really enjoy this bass..
Music background: 30+ years playing in punk bands, and any other genre when needed, anything from rock to smooth jazz
Pictures Do Not Do Justice
My first impression is that it is lightweight and well-balanced. The finish is gorgeous. The neck is built for speed, and the satin finish glides smoothly while the thin profile lets you play it like a lead guitar. I'll probably tweak the action after I test it for down-tuning to C# for some heavy metal Black Sabbath style. The active pickups are bright and strong. Really good tonal quality and sustain, I can't wait to do some runs and solos on it!

I use a BOSS Katana B210 with it, and the onboard effects are a dream, making this bass jump, thump, and dive!

The active electronics give a wide range of clean sounds, deep if you like it muddy, bright and deep if you slap the funk out of it, or crisp for some picking. You can play ANYTHING with this bass.
Music background: Experienced, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, and Progressive styles.
Amazing Bass
As a "returning to bass after a long absence" player, I was looking for an instrument that was high quality, not overly expensive, and that has great sound and tonal variety. I had played lower quality instruments way back when (30+ years ago) when I was playing with friends and trying to teach myself. I had no idea what I was really looking for now, especially since I committed to learning the bass properly this time around.

My sales rep, Jack Wellington, guided me through my research process and helped me arrive at the Omen Extreme-4. It's been a couple months since it arrived and I've really enjoyed playing it. The sound is very good, with the ability to create a wide variety of tones. The pickups are adequate for my needs right now, but I know I'll likely upgrade them to the actual EMGs that Schecter modeled them after.

I cannot say enough good things about my dealings with Sweetwater and the staff there. The 55 point inspection was good and the bass arrived in very playable condition. I did have a luthier give it a setup and he tweaked a few minor things to get the action where I wanted it. But it wasn't much he had to do to get it there. He remarked multiple times about how great the fit and finish were on the bass. It won't be my last bass, but I'm pretty sure it'll always be in my collection. It's too good to let go of, especially for the price.
The Omen
I will start with the fact that I did not buy my Omen-4 from Sweetwater but I have had it for over a year.
Honestly, the bass is well rounded instrument for the price point. The frets feel pretty good overall. The neck feels really smooth and soft which allows for fast playing up and down the neck with no resistance.

The pick-ups, being the reproduction second-rate humbucking pickups they are, are lacking in tonal variety and feel overly compressed. They don't seem to punch or growl like EMG, Fishman, or Seymour Duncan pickups can.

But other than that, the bass is definitely a great buy for an intermediate musician or some looking for a work horse to get the job done. I would advise buying EMG pickups or Seymour Duncan's to replace the stock pickups though. Luckily Sweetwater carries both!
