Orchestra Model Excellence — Upgraded with a Convenient Cutaway

The Martin Road Series OMC-10E Modern clocks in at the midpoint between old-school Nazareth tradition and contemporary acoustic-electric performance, wielding all-solid tonewoods and a versatile cutaway OM construction. The foundation of this acoustic-electric guitar comprises a solid spruce top, solid sapele back and sides, and scalloped spruce X-bracing. This superior tonewood combination dishes out serious projection, rumbling low end, and a crisp character that cuts right through the mix. Head over to the neck to be greeted by Martin’s easy-playing Performing Artist profile, topped with a traditional ebony fingerboard and 28 Style dot inlays. You also get satin chrome closed-gear tuners, a soundhole tuner, and a striking 1935 Sunburst finish. And with Martin’s acoustically faithful E1 electronics system, the Road Series OMC-10E Modern is equally at home strumming out acoustic-electric accompaniment onstage or dishing out fiery flatpicking lines at an all-acoustic jam.

Quality tonewoods deliver timeless tone

As a top tonewood, spruce offers a combination of strength and elasticity that delivers a broad dynamic range with crisp articulation that’s ideal for a wide range of playing styles, from delicate fingerpicking to aggressive flatpicked strumming. Sapele, used for the back and sides of the OMC-10E Modern, is tonally similar to mahogany, but its higher density tends to produce a slightly brighter sound with more high-end shimmer. The characteristic sapele sound is consistently balanced across the tonal spectrum, which makes it, again, suitable for a broad range of playing styles.

An orchestra in 6-string form

Frequently hailed by guitarists as Martin’s most versatile body shape, the Orchestra Model (better known by the “OM” designation) combines the comfort of a 000 with a long-scale snap. In fact, the only substantial difference between Martin’s OM and 000 models is the scale length, with the 000 clocking in with a 24.9-inch scale and the OM boasting a 25.4-inch scale — the latter being the same scale featured on Martin’s historic dreadnought models. In more pragmatic terms, Martin’s OM guitars are championed for their superb size-to-power ratio, exceptional string-to-string balance, and ample projection. To top it all off, this OMC combines all the stylistic flexibility of a standard Orchestra Model with a convenient cutaway for easy access to the upper frets.

Plug in courtesy of E1 electronics

Onboard Martin E1 electronics let you quickly connect to your favorite acoustic amp, recording interface, or even house PA systems at venues. Musicians at Sweetwater are impressed with the E1 system’s Tone, Volume, and Phase-reverse controls, which let you faithfully amplify your Road Series OMC-10E Modern's richness and warmth while shaping sound quality to taste. The E1’s Phase-reverse button is especially convenient for eliminating prickly feedback in tight spaces when standing near your amp is unavoidable. What’s more, the E1 system features a built-in tuner. You can tune up without any cable connections, so tuning breaks onstage and on the couch are equally easy. With onboard electronics this good, you’ll feel confident the OMC-10E is equipped for anything.

Martin Road Series OMC-10E Modern Features:

  • Time-tested Road Series tone and performance with all-solid sonics and sweeping Orchestra Model versatility
  • Solid spruce top with scalloped X-bracing delivers a rich and responsive tone with superior unplugged projection
  • Sapele back and sides supply a crisp and articulate snap
  • Select hardwood neck in Martin’s fast-playing Performing Artist profile; ebony fingerboard with 16-in. radius

  • Cutaway allows you to tackle upper-register licks and solos with ease
  • Rock-solid closed-gear chrome tuning machines

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Great feeling guitar
I always wanted a Martin acoustic guitar. This was a great option and a really good price point. The guitar feels really, really comfortable to play. The neck is very smooth. Overall, the tone really nice. This dark burst is beautiful on an acoustic the natural colors in the neck and the bridge make this guitar really unique. Which I really love!
The sound is unmistakably Martin.
The guitar is beautiful and has the look and feel of a more expensive guitar. The neck is narrower than I expected but the fretboard and neck was quite comfortable. The guitar sound is articulate but still has the deeper tones one expects for a Martin. It's a great guitar that punches way above it's weight class.
