Doors Good - Fit to Chauvet Slimpar Pro H USB, Not So Much

I bought these barn doors to use with lights that are put up and taken down for every performance. If you are mounting lights permanently, this review may not be as relevant to you.
To be fair, these barn doors are high quality and have more adjustment than your average barn door. I ordered these because the manual for the Chauvet SlimPAR Pro H USB says that the Ovation F 7.5" barn doors will fit my SlimPAR Pro H USBs. The Pro Hs have a gel frame holder that can be mounted to the front of them with screws, and there is a substantial flange on the back of the Ovation F barn doors that is supposed to slide under the gel frame holder clips.
Unfortunately, there is about half an inch of play under the gel frame clips and this allows the barn door to flop around in the gel frame holder alarmingly. I contacted Chauvet DJ about this problem and got no helpful response. If you are planning on mounting these on a SlimPar series Chauvet light that has a gel frame (they won't fit if there is not a gel frame holder since the flange next to the light is not drilled for screws), you can order some 3/4" x 5/8" stiff neoprene strip insulation (neoprene is heat resistant) to shim out the clips. Cut the insulation to fit under the clips in the gel frame and over the flange on the back of the barn door. Zip tie or wire the foam in place to hold the foam (and barn door) securely to the light. Be sure and put a safety cable through the provided hole on the barn door. Note that there are other solutions requiring substantial machining but are more desirable (like having tabs welded to the flange on the barn door and drilling precision holes to match how the gel frame holders are attached to the SlimPar light). Also note that the Chauvet DJ CHS-30 bag will fit three SlimPar lights with the barn doors mounted (saving you a lot of trouble at the gig).
Given these problems, I suggest you only order one barn door and test it out on your lights to avoid shipping a number of them back to Sweetwater.
