What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Could Be Priced Much Higher

This is a great sounding all-in-one overdrive/distortion pedal. The variable clipping diode takes you from a soft clipping overdriven tone to a full on hard clipping metal distortion all in one nicely designed and well-built pedal.

These are sturdy, light weight pedals that sound fantastic. Don't let the "but they're made out of plastic" whine put you off. It's ABS plastic if I'm not mistaken. It's the stuff that NFL football helmets are made from. The car you drive is loaded with ABS plastic.

They're inexpensive because Uli Behringer makes everything in his Music Tribe/Behringer City production facility in China. Many boutique pedal makers actually buy a lot of their components from Behringer.

Uli could charge $ for this pedal. I just ordered my third one.

Music background: Life-long pro and amateur musician. I played the L.A. club circuit back in the '80s from late 1979 through 1983.
It's another overdrive/distortion pedal.

I give this review 5 stars because the pedal is really nice. I know, it's plastic.. it's also sub $. It's heavy plastic folks.

But, what about the pedal itself.. I have several Behringer pedals in this category.. the TO800 screamer overdrive.. the HM300 Distortion pedal.. I also have the SF300 Super Fuzz.. Fuzz.. Distortion.. Overdrive.. it all [mostly] sounds the same to me folks.. So it's another sound.. It's another overdrive/distortion pedal. It sits on my board as a kind of preset.

It does sound really nice. Nice distortion, lots of control because you can change it from "overdrive" to "distortion", lol.. Kind of like "This amp goes to 11..". The unit is sturdy and the controls are smooth.

best 30$ i’ve ever spent
i bought this pedal hoping for something crunchy and nasty like a queens of the stone age type tone and it gave me exactly what i wanted. if your a cheap guy that wants a nice crunchy tone 10/10, if your an expensive guy that wants a good quality pedal 7.5/10.
This thing is great, and the price is a steal. Works great for bass.
Behringer keeps making great stuff at insane prices. And yes, they're sturdy, even though they're plastic. Most of the things in your life are plastic.

I've been wanting to get the Boss version for years, but I'm glad I tried this much cheaper alternative. It sounds very good, with sounds from warm overdrive to searing distortion. I like everything set at noon. Works great on a bass, as well, giving you the right amount of overdrive and distortion you're looking for.
love it
sounds great and cant beat the price
