Amp-like Grit Meets Incredible Touch Sensitivity

When it comes to amp-like overdrive, few guitar pedals rival the Fulltone OCD. Its unique — and revolutionary — combination of MOSFET transistors and voltage-controlled clipping not only sounds remarkably tubelike, but it also delivers extraordinary touch sensitivity and incredible dynamic response to your picking hand. The OCD boasts a streamlined, 3-knob control set for intuitive operation, alongside a versatile HP/LP switch that toggles between British-style tones (High Peak) with an upper-midrange push and more transparent, American-flavored tones (Low Peak). Additionally, the OCD’s Class A discrete 2N5457 JFET input stage bumps up the pedal’s impedance for increased dynamics and musical interaction with your guitar’s pickups. You also get a premium output buffer, providing you with consistent tone regardless of the pedal’s position in your signal chain, and selectable Enhanced Bypass or true bypass switching. From its tube-inspired MOSFET clipping to its hyper-responsive feel, the Fulltone OCD is one of the most distinctive overdrives around, packing amp-like grit and expressive nuance into a compact stompbox.

Note: The Fulltone OCD requires a negative-center 9- or 18-volt power supply, depending on your desired amount of headroom. For more information, please call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer.

Enhanced Bypass preserves every nuance of your playing

Fulltone’s obsession with tone drove the company to scrap conventional buffered-bypass designs and, after years of R&D, invent Enhanced Bypass — a Class A FET arrangement that preserves every subtle nuance of your playing. Rather than the unity-gain FET buffers found in most pedals, the OCD’s Class A FET stage, in the words of Fulltone founder Mike Fuller, “returns all the dynamics,” delivering an expressiveness and touch sensitivity you simply can’t get from traditional circuits. And when you crave absolute transparency, an internal switch flips the OCD into true bypass mode, giving you the choice between cutting-edge buffering and pedal-to-amp purity.

Built to inspire: Fulltone’s legacy of sonic excellence

Fueled by a lifelong passion for music and an uncompromising pursuit of world-class tone, Mike Fuller founded Fulltone in 1993, setting a new standard in the world of guitar effects. From iconic overdrives to studio-grade modulation, Fulltone pedals have earned their place among the most respected tools in modern music. Crafted with precision for both live performance and studio recording, each Fulltone product is a testament to reliability, innovation, and sonic excellence. Sweetwater stands proudly behind these American-built pedals. They’re not just built to inspire; they’re built to last a lifetime.

Fulltone OCD Features:

Reviews

Overdrive king
This is the first overdrive I've ever owned besides the one in the amp and this will be the last overdrive pedal I own it is that good I love it I use it constantly there isn't a day I don't use this pedal
Top-Notch tone for live performance
I definitely underestimated how good this pedal would be on my board which I use in a cover band. I bought the OCD at about the same time I bought an EVH 5150 pedal thinking I would use the 5150 for heavier songs (Van Halen, Metallica, Ozzy, 90's grunge) and the OCD for lighter material (80's pop, 70's rock). I absolutely now use the OCD on the heavy material as well as the lighter songs when overdrive is needed. I set the HP switch to on, Vol at 8:30AM, Drive at 2:00PM, and Tone at 3:00PM.

At very reasonable stage volume with a mic in front of a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker, songs like Enter Sandman, Unchained, and Interstate Love Song sound fantastic with this pedal because you don't lose the musicality of each note and you retain the power of the chords because you aren't losing tone to saturation/distortion.

I'm getting great results with a DiMarzio FRED humbucker in one guitar and an EVH Wolfgang Bridge humbucker in another. String harmonics and pinch harmonics all sound musical. I use TC Electronic buffers going into and out of the board, and a Keeley compressor that is always on before any pedals. I'm using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 40W amp.

Even though my bandmates rip on me for having a big pedalboard, my interest in digital modeling to replace this setup is almost zero because old school pedals sound so good when you take your time and dial everything in.

A must have for your board
Fulltone pedals are always bulletproof, but this one is bulletproof and dialed in. Amazing tone for my Fenders, Charvels, and Les Paul's. The tones are so broad and saturated, gain is clean, but can be dialed back to just add warmth, and surprisingly very volume knob responsive. Worth every penny.
Music background: 45 years playing, survivor of the Southern California rock scene in the 80s and 90s.
Great Overdrive
The OCD pedal is amazing. Even when the drive is at ten, you still get clarity and definition with each note. I have many overdrive pedals and the OCD is now my go to pedal. This pedal is worth every cent of the cost. Highly recommend this to all guitarists.
Excellent drive pedal
If I had one OD/distortion pedal to have, it would be this one. There is full range of tones making this extremely versatile and big sounding. You have a lot of tone control with the knobs! Distortion retains clarity even as you turn up the saturation. I especially enjoy the warmth of the tone with this pedal. Whether you have a light amount of gain or fully cranked, the sound is never harsh or unusable. Just excellent all around!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Joe Perrone
The Fulltone OCD is an essential part of my pedalboard, because it lets me dial in the drive tones I need for everything from classic rock to modern hardcore and metal. Thanks to its simple 3-knob design, I found it easy to use from the beginning. That's really important onstage, when I have to drastically change my tone between songs.
