Warm, Mellow Strings for the Open-back Banjo Player

Compared to the brash, bright sound of the resonator banjo, open-back banjos deliver a warmer, subtler sound that’s firmly planted on the opposite end of the tonal spectrum. Suffice it to say that the best strings for a bluegrass player’s banjo may not be the best choice for an old-time clawhammer player — that’s where Gold Tone’s Open Back Banjo Strings come in. These nickel-plated-steel strings are purpose-built for open-back banjo players, accentuating the deep lows and rich highs so sought after in the clawhammer and old-time banjo worlds. For the player looking to maximize the rustic and mellow charm of their treasured open-back banjo, Sweetwater’s banjoists find that you simply can’t go wrong with Gold Tone’s Open Back strings.

Gold Tone Open Back Banjo Strings Features:

  • Designed specifically for use with 5-string open-back banjos
  • Nickel-plated steel construction supplies ample clarity and long-lasting performance
  • Loop-end design for use on almost any banjo tailpiece

Reviews

Perfect
I have an open back banjo I'm just learning on although I've played 3 finger for years.
I picked up a used Deering Goodtime and kept banging away at it for a couple months. Although pleased with the quality, the sound just wouldn't approach my liking until I put these on. Not only that, it seems to stay in tune better. Just ordered back ups.
Trust Sweetwater to have the right stuff.
